Hi my name is Richelle and I am looking for anyone who might know about my family or ancestors. My Grandfather is Rasmus Rasmussen Bjelland (Ray R. Bjelland in the States) him and his brothers immigrated to Iowa from Norway (but arrived in Minnesota) around 1927. One of his brother's names was Oren Bjelland-- His family is originally from Stavanger, Norway, his father's name was Rasmus Erikson Bjelland
Interested in talking to other Bjellands too :) Thanks- my email address is JandRCampbell@home.com if anyone wants to chat or knows my family.

My mother's maiden name is Bjelland. Her first name is Adeline. She is the daughter of Hannah (Swenstad) Bjelland and Henry O. Bjelland who came to Oregon in 1946 from a little town in Minnesota, Nevis. Grandpa (Henry) died 2 months before I was born in 1948. He was an orphan and spent his growing up years in numerous orphanges. He made his living working for the railroad. Henry was married to another woman before my grandmother and had 2 other daughters, Orell and Esther Bjelland (both deceased). He married my grandmother at a later age and they had 2 daughters; Adeline (my mother) and DeVona who currently lives in Santa Rosa, Ca. I wonder if we (you and I) are related...

my father is Paul Bjelland, son of Thayne and Ellen Bjelland. Anders Bjelland was my great great great grandfather (he married Sari Etgebo), together they had Thomas Bjelland, who married Malinda Larson. My great-grandfather, John Melvin Bjelland was their son. I know that Sari and Anders Bjelland came to America from Norway around 1881. I wonder if we are related? There can't be that many Bjellands....

I, as you, are looking for Bjellands. My great grandfather was Hulver Bjelland, from Norway. Somehow related to the Bjelland Canning Co.

Surnames: Bjelland
Is the Bjelland place you speak of near Orre? My grandfather was Martin Bjelland. His father was Osmund Andreasen & mother was Kristine Leranger. The name Vik may be carried by some siblings. Any connection here?

The bjelland I'm speaking off is located on the west coast of Norway. The island of Stord (south of Bergen)
The name Martin Bjelland is familiar, but I'll come back to you
when I have some more details.
Bjelland on Stord was originally a large farm, the largest in this area. It used to be nobility before they removed this term in Norway.
There is also Bjelland located near Stavanger and Kristiansand.
If you send me your mail adr, I'll send you a map.

Thank you for taking time out to reply. I applogize for responding so quickly without checking my map first. The place you spoke of was not familiar to me at all.I got a bit excited at the thought of any connection. My grandfather was born Martin Osmundsun Bjelland ; 11/8 1895 ; Næstrand. I will e-mail you the details. Thanks again for your time.
