My father was Raymond M. Bjelland. His father was Samuel Bjelland and his mother was Carrie Johanneson-Boe Bjelland. When Christian Bjelland died in the late 40's?, the telegram from Norway informing the family was sent to my father. Andrew Bjelland and his wife Tina spent time between Norway and the U.S. I met Tina in 1969 in Los Angeles when she visited my Aunt Charlotte. Tina found my grandparents wedding photo in her husband's safety deposit box back in Norway.

Surnames: Bjelland and Weland
I do not agree that Bjelland was changed to Weland when they came to American. Both are farm names. They may have adopted the name Weland if they lived on the 'Veland' farm.

Veland was Americanized to Weland.

This is interesting to me because my great-grandfather Ole Weland married Martha Bjelland.

I have books on Strand Parrish if anyone needs some information looked up.

Hi There,

Not sure you'll see this or not Tor, but I am related to Christian Bjelland, owner of the Bjelland Co. (although I think we were under the impression it was the Oscar Sardine Co.). My grandfather Rasmus Rasmussen, his father was also Rasmus Rasmussen and it was his father (might have also been Rasmus) who was brother to Christian Bjelland, so Christian Bjelland was my Great Great Great Uncle LOL So yeah, related but it's a ways away, although for my grandfather who came over to the U.S. from Norway in 1927, it wasn't so far (Christian Bjelland was his great uncle).

Anyways, any info on Christian Bjelland and his family would be great, email: richellec21@yahoo.com
