Birge is buried in Oakville, Ontario and is as far back as I can go (late 1700's or early 1800's). There was a John
Birge who, in the mid-1800's, came up from the U.S. as a rebel against the United Empire Loyalists and was wanted by the British colonial government. His partner,
Prescott, was caught and hanged. Cyrus
Birge (born in 1847) is in the Canadian Encyclopedia as a founder of the Steel Company of Canada (Stelco). There is
Birge Street in
