The first Bird we have record of was John Bird who was an orphan and left on someones doorstep with a note to call him John Bird. He came from Framingham or Needham Mass and was raised by the Gregory family of Camden Maine. He married Clarissa Gregory and had 10 children. My ancestor was Almon Bird their son. Next came Capt Leslie Morton Bird then my grandfather Arthur Leslie Bird the one who came to Montana. If we really are from the Bird family think we could be of the Thomas Bird of Dorchester line. Some of them migrated to Maine as well so it gets to be complicated. As far as we know grandpa didn't know anyone in Montana and was working for the railroad where he hurt his back and decided to go into shop keeping. In 1920 he moved to Greybull Wyoming and went into the grocery business which he continued in until his death in 1951.
