John: Yes...I am still actively researching and thank you for your interest. We finally sorted through the different Jasper Billings/Billions and believe we have them in their correct places. Several of them died in Birmingham.

However, I am interested in knowing about a Billions and/or Lewter marriage to a Holt.

If either of you are still working on these lines and still in contact with this forum.

The Holts and Billions were "kin" by way of the Lewter family.

Littleton and Nancy Billions (Billings) did have a son named Jasper but he died in Montgomery, Alabama, tho unsure as to when he migrated there. I, too, need to do moire research on these families.

I would appreciate any contacts working these family lines.

I would be happy to share with you what I have.My Grand-
mother was Minnie Jane Billion b. 1888 and her Father
was William Henry Billions brother to Thomas Billions and
Their Father was James Monroe Billions b.1840.I don't know
if you know this but the Billions, Billion, Billings,Billians interchanged the sir names.We were able to
locate this by birthdate, and seeing the children with the
same names. It has been a project to locate them.

Not sure anyone will see this as the posts I've found are quite old. I am Kathy Billions Hackworth, daughter of Thomas E. Billions, gr. daugh. of Cleo Thane Billions of Athens, AL. Haven't found much on the Billions side past my great grand parents Thomas and Pansy Billions. Seems we grew up not having much contact with that side, as my grandfather died at age 50, before I was born. Would love to be able to tie into and learn more about that side of the family. Lonnie B. Billions is listed in the Alabama Death Index: b. 1875, d. Nov 10, 1970, Huntsville, Madison Co., AL. His headstone inscribed b. Jan. 15, 1882, d. Nov. 10, 1970. He married 1st Myrtle Gainer, b. 1884, d. Jan 29, 1937, Hazel Green, Madison Co., AL, married 2nd Cindy, b. Nov. 9, 1885, d. Nov. 25, 1971. All three are buried in Charity Baptist Church Cemetery, Hazel Green, Madison Co., AL. Alabama Death Index list Lonnie’s father as Wes Billions, mother Hessie. Might someone confirm the parentage of Lonnie Billions? I would like to add him to my Billions family tree.

This Jasper is too young (age 19 in 1900) to be the son of Littleton. There are several Jaspers in this family and I am having a very difficult time putting them in their proper places. Jasper Archie, Sr., son of Littleton had a son Jasper, Jr., but I think he is listed with his father in 1900 and 1910. Please correct me if I am wrong!

I sure could use some help from my Billions cousins…The repeat of names in this family is making it very difficult!

Jasper Billions is the son of Littleton Billions. What is so
curious to me is that he is in the household of the Holt
Family. My mother was a Holt and now I am thinking that the
Billions and the Holts knew each other. I will have to research this to find the connection.

Might he be the same Jasper F. Billion, age 28, married to Minnie 8 years, enumerated 1910 in Madison Co., AL census next to Arthur Billions living in the household of William Thomas Faulkinberry? WT Faulkinberry is my great grandfather and his mother was Virginia Jane Billions. I show Arthur as the son of James Monroe Billions who was the brother of my great great grandmother.

Thank you for responding to my posting. I am not sure when I posted that message either but it has been awhile. Nancy Billions was, as you know, my gr. gr. grand-mother. I have not, for one reason or another, done a whole lot of research on this family other than learning who her parents were and the names of most of her siblings. In other words, I have a large number of blanks in family group sheets on these families and would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Arthur Billions married my great aunt Delila Mae Lewter. Who were his parents? I have a pic here of him taken a few months prior to his death. Aunt Ada is standing behind him. I had given up hope of making contact with any other decendants of this family so am looking forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

I don't know when you posted this but I did quite a bit of research on the Billions family a few years ago. You spoke of Decatur, AL and that is where Arthur lived for a number of years. He had a son that lived there also. Littleton was my great great great grandfather and Nancy's brother was my GG grandfather. Don't know if that helps. I found a history on your side of the Lewter family in the Lincoln County library a few years ago. Linda Partridge is my cousin and a lot of her info came from me.

For the past couple of hours this morning I have been reading the various postings that all of you Billions researchers (and my cousins) have been making so decided that I would drop in to let you know that you have another cousin out here.

Though I have exchanged information with Linda Ward Partridge in the past I have never met any of you. Regretabley, I did not get too involved with this families research for various reasons. One of which was that I was just starting to get involved with the Lewter research and that has evolved into a porject, with other family members, of up-dating a book on the Lewter/Luter families first published back in 1974.

I am decended thru Nancy b. Feb. 3, 1834, in Lincoln County, Tn. and d Jan. 17, 1921. She married Jeremiah H.W. Lewter Dec. 7, 1854, in Limestone County, Al. Nancy was a dau. of Littleton Billions/Billings and Nancy (?) of Lincoln County, Tn. and Limestone County, Al.

There is an Arthur W. Billions that I would like to find some info on. Do any of you have him in your data bases? I have no information on him other than he married Lila Lewter (Lutha Elusia Leona Delila Mae Lewter). Their wedding announcement appeared in the Fayetteville Observer on Jan. 5, 1911. Any help on this family member would be greatly appreciated.

My mothers family has remained in the Lincoln/Giles County area of Tn and the Limestone/Madison County area of Al. Though a few have lived in the Dacatur area.

Well, mainly, I just wanted to introduce myself. Looking forward to meeting more cousins.

I'm not sure. I wonder what the connection is between Littleton Billions and Ruth. Littleton was born around 1800--some records indicate 1805; I have also seen 1797. Littleton first shows up in 1830 in Chester County, S.C. as L. Billans. I would like to find his father. There are some possibilities: Joseph Billens is listed in 1830 in the Spartanburgh County, S.C. census; William Billings and Betsy Billings are listed in the 1820 Chester County census; Jasper Billins is listed in the 1800 Moore County, NC census (one of Littleton's son's is named Jasper). There are other possibilities that are not worth mentioning.

With respect to Ruth, it is interesting that she shows up in Pickens County in the 1830's while Littleton is living in Fayette County, AL at the same time. He's there in 1836 through at least 1840.

How do you know that Ruth is from South Carolina? Also, how do you know that she was born in 1815? Thanks.

James Jefferson married Ruthy Billions on June 27, 1836 in Tuscoloosa County, Alabama.

Ana Billions (age 39) is listed in the Clay County, Indiana Census of 1870. Page 59.

My ggggrandfather, Littleton Billions, is listed in the 1830 Chester County, South Carolina census as L. Billians. Littleton moved to Fayette County, AL in the 1830's and eventually settled in Lincoln County, TN by 1860. I have come across Anna Billions in Pickens County, AL in the 1840's, which happens to be a county just south of Fayette County. I also have seen Ruth's name pop up from time to time.

I recently discovered that Littleton may have been mentioned in the Chronicle Telegram in the late 1880's. This paper is out of Elyria, OH. I suspect that the mention concerns the death of Ruth Billions in 1887 (Green County, OH)- possibly Littleton is referenced in her obituary. I'm still trying to get my hands on this information.

Jason Billions is my great-great-great grandfather. For years, I have been trying to determine what happened to Jason's father, Littleton, without much success. Littleton died between 1870-80, most likely in Lincoln County. I have searched every cemetery in Lincoln County, TN, Limestone, AL and surrounding areas to no avail. Can anyone identify Ruth? Death certificate of her daughter, Elizabeth Whittington in Greene County, OH 1915 gives Billians as Ruth's maiden name.

Ruth married James Jeffries/Jefferson (born about 1786) probably about 1835-36. It may have been a second marriage for James.

Census information shows this family moved between Tennessee and Alabama, before going to Ohio, Indiana and back to Greene County, Ohio where Ruth died in 1887.

It helps to have specific counties in South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama to concentrate my search - James Jeffries has been very elusive person to track down. Are you aware of any Billions/Billings that might have been in Indiana or Ohio?

I have a subscription to the newspapers at Ancestry and checked the entry for Littleton Billions. There is a Littleton Island in the area and it happened to be on a page with the word "billions".

The Greene County library has a good collection of newspaper notices and there wasn't an obituary for Ruth in their files. I suspect the only reason I was able to find estate papers for her is that she owned a small bit of land which had to be sold at her death.

Thanks again for your help. With some idea where to look, I did find the marriage record in an index of Alabama marriage records.

There is a James Jefferson, age 40-50, in Pickens County in 1830 with one female 30-40 in the household. It is probably the James Jefferson who patented land in Pickens County in 1834. My assumption is this is probably the James Jefferson who married Ruth in 1836: their first known child was born in 1837.

I haven't been able to locate James with Ruth and their two sons in 1840. Tennessee seems very likely since the two oldest sons where born in Tennessee according to census records in 1850 and 1860 when James and then Ruth was head of the household.

Is there any indication who Ruth's parents might have been?

Welcome to the researching Billions clan. Jim, in Alabama, is my second cousin related through Gordon, Jim's father, and Robert, my grandfather. My mother was Virginia Billions Ward, niece of Gordon Billions. I have not been actively researching of late. I run hot and cold. If I can help you in any way please feel free to ask. I do have quite a bit of collected information. I will gladly share. Most of my Billions settled in Memphis, Tn.

I just happened to check the Billions message board tonight and there was your query about the Billions family. I have the Faulkenbury's. I also have John A. Billions, 1838-1908.
John was married to Mary F. Manley b.1836 and Dedema 1862-1929. John and Mary had 5 daughters, one Nancy
b.1870. Jane Billions/Billings 1828-1896 married William Faulkenbury 1831-1912. Looks like they had 4 children and one was Nancy R. Faulkenbury born 1857. I do not have any info on her husband or children.
I am not finding anything on Lonnie. Do you know that the name Billions is interchangable with the name Billings? Through the 1800's the Billions crossed the Al. Tn. boarder often. Littleton Billions was a poor farmer who had many children. I don't think any of them spent much time in school. Jane Billions Faulkenbury was his daughter. At one time Littleton farmed in Fayette Co. Al. I trace my Littleton line from around Fayetteville, Tn. My gggrandfather, Jason, son of Littleton, lived some time there. His son Joseph Alexander, my ggrandfather moved to Memphis and there most of my line has stayed for over 100 years. There are Nancys in most of these families. Littleton's wife was Nancy Jane.

Nancy Billions was married to Littleton Billions. Littleton was born in Chester County, South Carolina around 1800. He lived in Fayette County, AL in the 1830's; Lincoln County, TN in the 1840's, 50's and part of the 60's. I believe he also lived in Limestone County, AL in the 50's. Nancy and Littleton had many children- one named John Billions. John Billions fought in the Civil War, and he is buried in Madision County, AL. I visited his gravesite 2 years ago-- I took several photographs. of the marker which is still in good shape. I have more information about this family if you are interested. I hope this helps.

I'm not sure about Nancy but my GG Grandfather was William Henry Billions. He M. R.S. Green ( I believe her name was Rhoda Susan Green)He is listed as being b. in Tenn. Their first child James Willis Billions was born in Pulaski, Tennessee. My Grandmother, Minnie Jane Billions was also born in Tenn. I'm hoping that someone will have this in their database and help me. In 1900 they were in Collin County,Texas.Haven't been able to verify his family and cannot find them in the cesus. They both were born in 1866 and are buried in Texas.

Thanks David, this is some good info. I have been busy since last summer and haven't had time to pursue this. "Too many lines, so little time." if you know what I mean. It looks like my uncle is related to Littleton through his son James Wesley (1849). James is listed in 1910 in Madison Co., AL with a daughter listed as Renie A. Buffalo. My uncle says he had an aunt who married a Buffalo and moved to Texas. If I can confirm this it may tie everything together. Boy, a 1890's census sure would have come in handy. I think my next step is to find everyone in the 1900 census.

My name is Jason Layne Billions, and I recently joined the web site. I have Jim's cheat sheets in front of me, and I can see how your family fits in. If I'm reading it correctly, Jim is your brother. Has he told you about driving back from Memphis just after discovering that Jason Billions was his ggrandfather and then receiving a message from me on his voice mail that same night? It was great hearing him tell me about it--like a voice calling from the past.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am currently curious about the following three things.
1) Can you confirm that James Monroe Billions, b. April, 1840 (my gggrandfather) is indeed the same James Billions, b. about 1840, who is the son of Littleton, b. about 1800? In other words, I am trying to confirm whether or not Littleton is my ggggrandfather.
2) Do you have any information that goes further back than Littleton?
3) There are two clans of Billions in Madison County, Alabama, who have wondered for years how they are related. I have recently been in touch with Will Ary and Eugene Billions about this, and they are looking to see how Lonnie Billions (wife Myrtle Gainer) fits into the picture. I do not have Lonnie in my notes. Do you?

There seems to be a question of which Catherine Scott married Nathan MaCallister. It appears two brothers, Wilson Scott married to Altoney Harris and Samuel Scott married to Elizabeth ?? both had daughters born about 1832 in Lincoln County TN. Both appear on the 1850 Lincoln county TN census as age 17. One definitely married Nathan McCallister but "which one"? Some descendents claim Samuel as an ancestor and others claim Wilson. Does anyone have any definite info on this such as Bible records?

I'm looking for any information concerning the Billions family. Most of the family lived in North Memphis. Can go back to Littleton and Nancy Billions, early 1800's.
There must be Billions cousins out there. Let me hear from you.

I am trying to help my cousins trace their father's family. They have lived in the Madison County, Alabama area for about a hundred years. Prior to that, according to census records, they were in Tennessee. The names I have are: Lonnie (Lon B.) Billions, born abt 1880 in TN; John Billions, Bill Billions, and Lucinda (Cindy) Billions. Lonnie was married to Myrtle Gainer about 1902 and had eleven children. Lonnie, Myrtle, and Cindy are buried in Charity Cemetery, Hazel Green, AL. I have found a John A. Billions listed in the 1900 Madison County, AL census that may be related. There also may be a relation to the Faulkenbery family. A Nancy Billions, age 72, is listed in the 1880 Lincoln County, TN census as Mother-in-law of a Wm. R. Faulkenbery who has a son, Jeremiah, age 20. In the 1910 Madison County, AL census, Jeremiah, now age 50, is listed as a neighbor of Lonnie Billions. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
