My family tree has been traced back in direct line of issue to a Bidmead, christian name unknown, born in Ireland in county Mayo date unknown. An officer in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers (?) fought in the Peninsular war in Spain in the Duke of Wellingtons army 1809 and was killed in action in the Battle of Talavera July 26 1809.

John Bidmead son of above born at Stonybridge. Newent Febuary the 15 1834 died june 10 1911.
William Herbert Bidmead son of above born at Newent Gloucstershire. July 19 1861 died febuary 7 1947.
William John Bidmead son of above born at Newent May 19 1885 Glos. Died in Middlesex November 20 1969.
All the above were direct line of issue. it then follows that my Grandfather Ronald William Bidmead who was born the second son of the above William John Bidmead November 13 1910. Died 4 January 1973 in Isleworth.
