My sil has a grandmother Mary Marie Biebl(1902-1994) from Baltimore--she married Newton Robinson Kelly.
I think her father was Wenzel---there was another Wenzel and Leopold that went to MN -- all from Austria/Bohemia /Germany

I have been trying to locate my Great, Great, Grandfathers parents and any siblings names. I know Henry Biebelwas born in 1827 I have two birth place possibilities, Weisenheim, Bavaria, this was mentioned in his obit,or Niefenheim, Rhine Pfalz, Bavaria that is mentioned on his marriage cert. I know that he married Barbara Kiefer in 1850 or 1851 I believe in New York or Connecticut. He is buried next to Frank Biebel who I believe is his brother, my Dad grew up knowing Franks decendants as cousins, we have no information on either of them prior to USA, there may have also been a brother Charles, Charles and Henry enlisted in the Infantry the same day in Bridgeport Ct Henry was a Captain in the Civil War and was a prisoner in Libby Prison during the uprising. His Marriage cert say Heinrich Bibel. ANyone that has any infor on parents would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have been researching the Bible family for a number of years. I don't know if I can help you, but I can lead you to find some things (I hope). Start with the census. The 1930 census should list William P. Bible with his family and since his wife was born in 1924 you can figure he was born about that time, give or take 4-5 years. Next search for the Bible family site. It is a wonderful site that lists tons of Bibles all the way back to Hans Adam Biebel who came to the U.S. in the 1700's. Linda may be able to help you also. Try the http://labs.familysearch.org it is the new LDS site and do a records search. Look for military records at the Footnotes site, you never know what you'll find there.

Elizabeth Bible, wife of William Thompson - Ireland to Canada

My great, great, great grandmother was Elizabeth Bible, born in Ireland (date unknown) and died before 1851 in Quebec. She is buried in Cantley Cemetery with her husband, William Thompson, and his second wife. Her son, Edward Thompson, was born between 1822 and 1828, most likely in Ireland but possibly in Ontario or Quebec. He married Isabella Larmour and their first daughter was Elizabeth Bible Thompson, born 1851. She married Isaac Cross and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I know nothing else about Elizabeth and her roots. If any one has any connection I would love to hear from you. I have a lot of information on her descendents that I would gladly share.

Mrs Holliday, a native of Ohio, came to Canadian county with her parents in 1889, the family settling on a farm southeast of El Reno. Her husband, D.J. Holliday, died 11 years ago.

Valentine Severe Bible is in my tree through his 2nd marraige to Mary Alice Huff. My great grandmother was Alta Omega Bible. I dont see her listed as one of their children on the Bible site. I know that Mary Alice Huff's father was Jonas Huff and I cant find a spouse for him. I found the obit for my G grandmother at the etsu library, but it only listed her children, most dead by now or don't remember things. :( Has anyone come across any of these names while doing research. Most of my family is from Green or Washington County Tn. Other Surnames involved are Gillette, Barnett(e), Jones & Tipton.

I saw your Query on the Bible board and found some info you may or may not have. Valentine Bible is on the 1860 census for Greene County living with parents, Isaac & Sarah. Info is that he was b. 28 Dec 1854, m. Mary Alice Huff in 1890, and d. 16 Jun 1919. His mother was Sarah Caroline Kinser. The 1870 census he is still with parents. 1880 - nothing found. 1910 census lists his name as Vollie S. Bible-55,wife-Mary A. Bible-40, children are; Alta-16, Carl-14, Zella-10, Fredie,-6, and Dula-1.
Jonas Huff is listed on the 1860 census as 16 & living with parents, Peter & Barbara Huff. 1870 census has him as 28, living with wife, Sarah. children-Susan-3, Alice-1. 1880 census Jonas & Sarah J. Huff, children; Susan A.-13, Mary A.-10, Joseph A.-8, Martha A.-2, & John S.-5mo. 1900 - Jonas-55, Sarah-50 and Sorde I.-12. I found record of Civil War from 1863 - 1865.

In the Bible Database, we have Swan born 26 Feb 1871 in Cocke Co., TN , died 28 Jan 1951 in Coleman Co. and Nora born 22 May 1881, died 27 Aug 1969 in Bangs, Texas. They are both buried in the Santa Anna Cemetery, Coleman Co. I obtained the death dates from the Texas state death index Nora's father was George Washington Maynard b Aug 31,1842-Huntington, Cabell co. Virginia, died Oct 24, 1926 in Washington Co. TX. Her mother was Myrum Hatten b Oct 24 , 1865 in MN; or so we've been told. Is this Adam the son of CATHERINE MARGARET FOLMAN & JOHAN CHRISTIAN BIBLE ? In re-checking my Bible family I noticed I have a different birth date for this Adam - Can you furnish me with your birth & death dates of all their children? I have Adam as Jan 1786. His brother GEORGE is my 3rd Great Grandfather and his birth date is 03 Oct 1785.
If Adam is 1796, he is quite a bit younger than the others.
I have the other children's births starting with Philip 1773 to Adam in 1786. I've relied heavily on your Bible information and of course have given you many references thru out my research - If all else fails I check with you! How ironic to hear from you as just last week I have begun redoing, correcting , sourcing etc . my genealogy history . John Herschel Bible grave

I am from a small town in central North Carolina. In our community cemetary there is a plot w/ on one grave, that of a John Herschel Bible born 1920 died 1922 son of J,C, Bible.

I find it so sad that the grave of this 2-yr old child is the only member of the family on the plot. Our plot adjoins this empty plot. Unfortunately the town doesn't have good records of early cemetary lot owners. It appears from info in this web site that the family is from Chattanooga, TN...listing that as the birthplace of the child.

I would be interested in any additional information anyone could provide and would like to contact the relatives of this child.

Several of the Easterly clan have been looking, some for decades, for documentation that Elizabeth Bible Easterly was the first born (1786) to Philip and Margaret Bible, and that Philip was Hans Adam's son. The Catherine Bible Hale family Bible may contain that information, but it's whereabouts is unknown. Elizabeth married Casper (Gaspar) Easterly in 1807 in Greene County, TN. You can join the DAR on the service of the ancestor Johann Adam Bible. His service has been prooved by the DAR.
I would love to get the documentation that Christian Bible supported the revolution through either selling or giving food to the troops. This would provide a DAR supplemental. There is a will for Christian Bible naming all of his children.

Hello Pauline- Do you know where Catherine Ferguson came from? I know she was probably born in St. Francois, Missouri somewhere. Her father was Churchman Ferguson and her mother was Elizabeth. I know her father, Churchman Ferguson, was born in Tennessee, but I've been unable to trace him back to where in Tennessee.
You see...I am a Ferguson descendant. One of my great-grandfather's sisters kept a box of funeral cards. I'm trying to find out who all the people in the box of cards are. One of the cards belongs to George E. Ferguson from Montana. His father was Joseph Churchman Ferguson from St. Francois, Missouri. His father was William Ferguson and William's father was Churchman Ferguson. So I've been able to trace the family to St. Francois, Missouri and Churchman's daughter was Catherine who married Ezra Bible. So now I'm trying to figure out where in Tennesee Churchman Ferguson came from and how are they related to my Fergusons?? Anyway, just thought I would ask and see if you know.

I "think" I have recognize your George Thomas Bible. He was the grandson of Ruben Bible and Vasty Emaline Cobble b. in Greene Co., TN. His father was Samuel S. Bible and his mother was Charlett B. [no name] I found his father and mother, with HIS mother, and George T. on the 1900 Cleveland Co., OK census. I found his father and mother, with George T. and four more children, on the 1910 Chavez Co., NM. I haven't looked at the 1920 NM census yet. I didn't know George Thomas Bible's wife's name, however.

Many people are interested in the possibility of Native American wives of Bible men, but only two brothers have been identified as being consorts of Cherokee women. Some descendants are listed in the Cherokee (and Creek) census rolls but not all of the descendants of these two brothers. The two brother's were Adam M. and John M. Bible, sons of Rebecca [Coffelt] and John Bible of Marion Co., TN.

It's kind of complicated to discuss here. If you would write me privately, I would be happy to 'talk' to you.

Hi Linda,

I believe this to be the wife of Avery M. Bible. But Melinda's name is listed as Melceina and also Medina on the rolls. She was 61 at the time of enrollment, an inter-married white. She was on the 1880 roll living in the Illinois District. Her parents were (supposedly) Thomas and LaVinia Glisson but maybe Thomas was her brother. On the 1880 roll she was listed as Medina Bibles and on the 1896 roll, page 294 #53 as Melceina Bibles, Cooweescoowee. She died on August 1, 1905. She was living at Pryor Creek, Indian Territory, Cooweescoowee at the time of the Dawes enrollment.

Avey Bible/Bibles was the son of Adam M. Bible/s and Eliza Jane unknown who was partly Cherokee. He was born 24 Aug 1841 and died aft 1880. I don't know when he died but he's not on the Dawes rolls.

She and Avey had 3 children, as far as I know. Ella "Ellie", b. abt 1874(Dawes: 1/2 C2622, D28645); Carrie, b. abt 1876 d. abt 1880; Rosa b. abt 1878, d. probably earlier than the Dawes.

This is all I know and it's all from the Cherokee rolls I have found.

I was very intrigued by your message of 15 May 2000. I ran across it while looking around the Bible website. The Bible cemetary in nw ga. is on my grandfather's old farm in Dade county at the community of Cloverdale, Ga.
My gr grandfather, Philip Galatin Bible and my gr gr grandfather George Adam Rice Bible are buried there as well as my brother John David Bible. My grandfather, Charles Bible, lived there many years. The farm was first bought by George Adam Rice. I played there as a boy and have been to the cemetary many times. My brother T. D. Bible has some photos of the farmplace and the cemetary. I just thought it interesting that you talked about the old Bible cemetary that was on my grandfather's farm. If I can be of help on any onfo let me know.

When i was little i asked where we were from and all anybody knew was germany so i came to college last year and was messing around on the internet and found this website and then thought it was somebody else but i looked and it wasnt my great grandfather was G. W. Bible who was married to effie brannon and my grandpa is W. Bible who had nine kids and my dad is M. bible and i am the only son and i have a lot of cousins. WE have lived in this area for 175 years and we have a park named after us because we were the first here i guess. One of my great grandfathers named george. Polly Myers married Lewis Bible on Aug. 23,1831 in Green county, Tennessee (according to the book EAST TENN.MARRIAGES). In 1840 they appear in the Cocke county, Tennessee census. They had three children, George, Caroline and Rebecca. By 1850 in Marion county, Tenn. Polly and the girls are listed but no Lewis or George.

BUT Lewis Bible married Louisa Murray on July 25, 1835 (according to the same book as above). In the 1850 Tennessee census they had 6 children from ages 2-14. So figure that out, don't know if the is the same Lewis as the Bible families used the same group of names over and over and over. Good Luck!

Funny....all my research for the "Embury" Family (my wife's aunt June) covered thousands of Palatine German Families deposited in Ireland and in Kilafine. One was a Mary Bible married by the Rev. Philip Embury about 1850.... The answer to "Roots" starts in the Lower Palatinate of Germany but I don't know the Colorado Family at all. There was a Donald Bible in San Francisco (I thimk?). Like Biebel becoming "Bible", Embury began as "Embarger". Good luck!

Lewis Bible - Daughter Clarissa

Looking for copies of actual records for which I have transcribed versions. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got them. The first one is dated February 1, 1851, signed by William Bible before JP M. Lincoln regarding Lewis' military service, his marriage, and Clarissa being only minor at time of Lewis' death.

The second one is dated March 1, 1851, signed by David Good before JP John Maloney regarding the marriage of Lewis Bible and Sarah Bartles;

the third one is dated October 14, 1851, signed by Christian Bible before JP H. G. Robertson regarding death of Lewis and Sarah and birth of Clarissa.

The Tennessee Archives is having difficulty locating these records.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow - it's been awhile since I checked this board!! Sorry about the delay.

I actually have no major additions to the tree although I have been slowly adding information to my line from Sarah Elizabeth Jackson > Jasper Newton Collier > William Albert Collier > me and mine.

However, as time permits I have gone to Lone Chapel Cemetery and photographed several headstones relating to decendants and ancestors. With those I have been able to accurately document name, dob & dod on several. I will gladly share any photo.

I downloaded the free version of Legacy and have all my documented information updated. Hopefully I will find time to put it online somewhere in the near future.

As a side note (in case someone isn't aware) Chow-E-You-Cah and Cherokee George were NOT their Cherokee names for two reasons!
One - there are no R's in the Cherokee language so even the word Cherokee is not Cherokee. There are different stories to how this word came about - but - tsalagi ( prounounced Sha-La-Gi) is the actual name.
Two - Chow-E-You-Cah is a phonetic spelling in English of how her name may have sounded to the person who spelled it for the first time. The ending (ah) is typical of the eastern Cherokee way to end any sentence and there are no capitols in the Cherokee language.

Mary lived throughout their lifetimes in Lima, Ohio; both are deceased.
My father, Earle Lewis Mauck (born May 24, 1890 in Indiana)
died in 1953.

I have had some interest in this marriage because this could be the Polly Myers b. ca. 1812, daughter of John Myers and Catherine (Kerbaugh) Myers that I have been looking for.

The Bible family lived very close to the Myers family on Little Chucky Creek and there were several later intermarriages. The problem is I have no idea what eventually happened to this couple.

If you find out I would like to know.

You might be interested in seeing the Conestoga wagon used by Phillip Bible, brother of Christian. It is under an open shed behind the Davy Crocket Tavern Museum in Morristown, Tennessee. I want to visit the Greeneville Museum. I have heard there is a picture or a log from Christian's cabin.

I am assuming that Elizabeth is Anton Bible's daughter correct? When was she born and where? That will help alot. Next go to the next census year and look for that family in the state she was born. That should help get you started.

My mother was also born in Flora, Illinois. Her father was Freddie Lee Bible, his father was Esta Deon Bible, his father was James Frederick Bible, and his father was James Christopher Bible. If you think these were related to you I have most of their dates as well.

Your line is: Rebecca Dill born 1775 Kent Co., DE died 1869 Greenville Co. SC. She was married to John Henson. Be very careful because a bunch of the Dill girls married Henson boys and some Henson girls married Dill boys. Rebecca was the daughter of Elijah Dill and Sarah Stewart. Don't assume that the spelling will be just as I have it because the people were not nearly as educated as we are and spelled the way they heard it or the way it was spelled in the Old Country (whichever they came from). Elijah moved from Delaware to Greenville Co., SC so you are interested in DE ans SC records.

SARAH BIBLE PASSES AWAY

Sarah Ann (Townsend) Bible passed away at the home of her son, John Bible, at Antioch, Saturday night at 7:30 o'clock with whom she had made her home for the past year. She was in her eighty-first year and death resulted from infirmities of advanced age.

Mrs. Bible was the daughter of Francis and Caroline Townsend and was born in St. Louis, December 17, 1848.

Grandma Bible, as she was familiarly known by her acquaintances, lived in Cambria until she came to Antioch to make her home with her son John. She has spent part of her time with a granddaughter, Bertha (Bible) Shue, of Lebanon.

Sarah A. Townsend was united in marriage with Enoch Bible, January 18, 1864, but the husband preceded her in death, having passed away January 18, 1923. Mr. and Mrs. Bible became residents of Clinton County fifty-four years ago soon after Mr. Bible was discharged from the army.

Mr. and Mrs. Bible were the parents of seven sons, two of these having preceded the mother in death. Those surviving are F. E. Bible, of Paxton, Neb.; Elbert E. Bible, of Newport, Ark.; J. L. Bible, of Cambria; Amos Bible, of Tipton, and John J. Bible, of Antioch, at whose home she died.

Mrs. Bible united with the United Brethren Church when 14 years of age and held her membership at Farmers Chapel for many years. A few years ago she transferred her membership to the Holiness Church at Cambria. She was a devoted Christian worker and held in highest esteem by all who knew her.

Friends may call at the John Bible home at Antioch until 8 o'clock Sunday afternoon when the body will be removed to the Moore funeral parlors at Rossville. Funeral services will be held in the Cambria Brethren Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in the Rossville cemetery.

Ricky died July 1, 2003 at the VA Hospital after an extremely courageous battle with cancer. His voice gone, he depended upon pen and paper to communicate. His responses were always humorous until the end.

Ricky was born September 24, 1948 in San Diego. He graduated in 1966 from Lincoln High School. He played the cello in the orchestra, the trombone in the marching band and earned a letter wrestling. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany as an M.P. Ricky held various jobs as a sales rep for auto parts stores and Miller Beer.

However he will be most remembered for his renovation of a card room into his own restaurant called Chow Time which is now occupied by Antique Row Cafe in Normal Heights.

Survived by his mother Elsie Bible; sister Ruth and brother Roland of San Diego, sons James of San Diego, Jason of Florida; three grandchildren.

I have the birthdate from John Bible's (son of Isaac) tombstone in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Marble Falls, Burnet, TX. The same date is in Isaac's family bible owned by Joseph McCamey of Greeneville, TN but I don't know if he still has it.

This is the same one. I obtained the information from a WorldConnect Database: Richard Hill, "Hill Family Gedcom" in 2000. I just checked and now he has another database, "A German Hill Family" and another email address : captrah@attbi.com. I'm going to change this now.

He says that Mary "Marcy" Allen Barney Bible is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, LaValle, Sauk, WI but her first husband, Emery Barney, is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaValle, Sauk, WI. He gives the source as "Sauk County Cemeteries, Vol. 5, #6093884, FHL, Salt Lake City, Utah".

I wonder if Oak Lawn Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery are the same thing? I checked with "Cemeteries of Sauk County, Wisconsin"; http://www.interment.net/us/wi/sauk.htm ; and there wasn't any listings for either of the cemeteries in question.

Have you seen her tombstone at Oaklawn? It would make sense for her to be buried at Oaklawn with her first husband; but Richard Hill has a book source (Which I haven't seen!) I try to be as accurate as I can without actually seeing something tangible!

Surviving are: a daughter, Birdie (Mrs. Fred) Clark of Fredericktown; two sons, Lester Plummer of Knob Lick and Al Plummer of Farmington; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild; a sister, Maggie (Mrs. W.R. The body will be in state at 5 p.m. today at Cozean Funeral Home in Farmington.

An 'Enoch P. Murray', b. 30 Jun 1821, d. 1890 both in Greene Co., TN; married Lavinia Bible abt 1844, according to my sources. Maybe this Murray is a descendant of your 'Enoch Murray'.

Enoch Murray BIBLE, Sr. was born in 1881, also in Greene Co., TN. His father and Lavinia were first cousins, although Lavinia was about 15 years older.

Both cousins were in Dist 4 on the 1880 census - on pp. 56 and 57 respectively - so I 'assume' they knew each other but I don't know for sure. <g>

Enoch Murray Bible, Jr., known as "Tom", was the brother of Maxie Bible Watterson.

Ms. Bible was a native of Birmingham and had lived in Augusta since 1935. She was retired Vice President of Southeastern Builders and she was an independent Interior Designer. She was past-president of the Boxwood Garden Club, past president of Augusta Womens Golf Association at the Augusta Country Club, Augusta Junior Womens Club, Member of the Womens Volunteer Association at University Hospital, past president of Wimberly Association and she was an avid Bridge player.

Family members include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia and Jim Davis of Martinez, Kay and Martin Moore of Pelahatchie, Miss.; sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Harriett Bible of Hendersonville, Tenn., Jim and Pat Bible of Martinez; grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Bible, Brad Wells, Michael Floyd, Joy Chancey, David Moore, James and Amber Bible, Katherine Davis; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today, Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Gerald Varner officiating.

BIBLE, CLARICE MARIE RAMSEY - age 86, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, October 1, 2001 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 20, 1915.

She was a longtime member of South Knoxville Baptist Church, where she helped organize and direct a ministry for children at Baptist Hospital, as well as being very active in WMU. She was an avid reader and had a sharp mind capable of carrying on conversation in a wide variety of topics.

Clarice had a love for humanity and was sensitive to the needs of others. She handled life with dignity and resolve and will leave us all with the fond memories.

She was preceded in death by husband, Newton Edgar Bible; parents, Will and Rose Ramsey; daughter, Rebecca Johnson; sister, Vera Chapin and brother, Wendell Ramsey. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Dana and Faye Bible of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mark and Karen Bible of Jefferson City; son-in-law, Bill Johnson of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Eric Johnson of

Mrs. J. E. Bible, 79, of near Vinita, for many years a resident of the community west of Chelsea, died about 8:45 Wednesday morning, June 12, at Craig General Hospital where she has been a patient for some three weeks. She had just recently undergone surgery.

Mrs. Bible moved near Vinita some eight years ago when families were evacuated from the Verdigris river area where she had lived for some 35 years.

The former Mary Elizabeth Ard, daughter of George Ard and L. Bell Daulton/ Dalton was born October 2, 1888 at Somerset, Kentucky. She had 94 living descendants.

She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Her husband, James Edward Bible, died October 29, 1959.

Surviving are five sons; Evertt Bible of Adair, Loyd and Leo Bible of Chelsea, Hugh Bible of Claremore, Kenneth Bible of Vinita; live daughters; Esther Land of Miami, Leona Crowe of Kent, Washington, Osena Frits of Chelsea, Dorothy Smith of Wellsville, Kansas, Florence Griffin of Oklahoma City; and 47 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the First Christian Church by the Rev. M. S. Philbeck Tulsa.

Burial will be in Chelsea Cemetery under direction of Paul Merriott Funeral Service.

Jerard (Virginia) Aman, Tucson; Ariz.; Max William (Emily) Aman, Interlaken; Robert Alvin (Joyce) Aman, Candor; Douglas Martin (Betty) Aman, Greensboro, S.C.; Virgina Lee (Francis) Holmes, Hammondsport; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nellie Anderson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Delbert W. Aman.

Ulta was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church in Candor and the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at 5 p.m., at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Spencer. Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. before the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire, N.Y.

Uncle John Bible

The subject of this sketch was among the pioneers of this section and was an honorable, upright citizen. He was born in Greene County, East Tennessee, July 24th,1839 and died at home of his daughter in this city, December 17th, 1919. He served in the Confederate army 3 years and 7 months during the Civil War. He was severely but not seriously wounded during some of the hardest fighting.

Mr. Bible came to Texas in September 1876 and located on what is known as the Billy Kinser place south of the river. He lived in that immediate section until a few years ago when he went to Fairland to make his home with his daughter. He married in Tennessee and his companion died 16 years ago. This union was blessed with 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls; 9 of the children survive him as follows. T. H. Bible, Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Florence Shaw, Pleasant Valley, L. M. Bible of Double Horn, Mrs. Mollie Gass, Edgar, Neb., Mrs. W. M. Holloway, Spicewood, Mrs. H. E. Templin, Fairland, Jim Bible, Toby, Will Bible, Austin, and Mrs. Jim Williamson of this city. He is also survived by a sister and a brother, both of whom live in Tennessee.

Mr. Bible had never been a member of any lodge or church, but six years before his death said that he had made peace with God and was prepared to die.

All that was mortal of this good man was laid to rest in the Roper cemetery in Pleasant Valley. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. M. Lynn, Pastor of the Methodist Church, on the afternoon of December 18th.

There are many good and laudable things that could be said of this splendid citizen, devoted husband and affectionate father, but the citizenship of this community which he lived and died know better than we of his goodness and kindness.

A gloom was cast over the neighborhood of Double Horn and Pleasant Valley last Tuesday morning by the death of Mrs. Martha Bible, wife of Mr. John Bible. Mrs. Bible had been suffering over a year and knew that there was no hope of recovery, but thru all of her sickness she never lost faith in God. She said God had a work for her to do on earth and when that work was finished He would take her home. She was patient through all her suffering and when free from pain seemed to enjoy herself as much as a person in perfect health.

She was born in Greene County, Tennessee, in the year 1843.She was a consistent member of the Methodist Church.

The last sad rites were performed at a late hour Tuesday evening The appropriate religious service were conducted by Rev. J. E. Bell. "Blessed are they that die in the Lord, for they shall see the kingdom of God."

Ah! The Bible/Myers marriage! This is truly a puzzle! The marriage is listed in "Greene County, Tennessee Marriages, 1783-1868" compiled by Goldene Fillers Burgner. It is also in the LDS Library under "Pre-1870 Extracted marriages".

Some people say Lewis Bible (1788/1789-20 Oct 1843) was the son of Christian Bible, but this particular one apparently married Sarah Bottles before 1812 when their first daughter was born. Sarah died in 1837. (Lewis and Sarah's last son was born in 1834.) The dates have not been 'proved', to my knowledge but there are a lot of people descended from Lewis and Sarah who have these dates.

Other people say this Lewis could be the son of John Bible, Christian's son, (Lewis: b. 1 Jul 1813 d. bef 1860) and it could be his first wife. He married Louisa Murray on 29 Jul 1835 when Lewis was 22. He could have been married at 18 to Polly Myers.

The only other Lewis of the same generation(180?-aft 1860[census]) in TN is John and Rebecca Coffelt Bible's child and they left Greene Co. abt 1800 for Blount Co. and Marion Co. But I suppose they and their children would visit Greene from time to time. So this Lewis MIGHT have married Polly Myers first.

You might try to write, or call, the courthouse in Greene Co, TN to see whether they have more on this particular marriage. (witnesses, bonds, perhaps parents!) Maybe this 'Tennessee Marriage book' is an abstract and not 'the whole story'.

I know Richard Hill and have been in touch with him on several occassions the past fe years. As far as our Allen line goes, we are stuck at the same place because our ggrandfather Ira Allen's father, Ira allen Sr., is where we are having a very hard time finding out exactly what happened to him and who in fact is his father. We believe through Heber Allen's son Joseph. Still trying to find birth, marrage, and death info on th Ira Sr. We do know Ira Sr. was married to Elizabeth (Potter, were pretty sure of) Allen?McIntyre<< 2nd marriage. I have a copy of Ira Jr. marriage cert. which states this. Also have hand wriitten doc. from my ggrandmother Ora (Allen) Lobdell, Ira Jr.'s daughter from 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Amanda (Rose) Allen which state Gen. Ethan Allen is He father's Father's uncle. She states this several times in her documents.
As far as the cemeteries go, Oak Lawn and Evrgreen are two different Cemeteries. I have visited both and I believe I may have video of Mary (Allen) Barney/Bible's tombstone. I visit there occassionally for reseach, I live about 2 hurs away. I myself was born in Sauk Co. Alot of Sauk Co. info is no avalable on-line. I do hope soon they get it out there. There are some wonderful helpful people out there willing to help out from that area. I have been pretty fortunate receiving data.with alot things from their help. Sauk Co. also has website. If your interested let me know and I can send you the link.
Is George buried there or somewhere else? Who died 1st, he or Mary and who was his first wife and their children? Do you have any info dates, doc., on George and Mary, did they have children together or were they to old by that time?

This appears to be the father of lewis bible and Tigo. My uncle spoke of a half brother caller Ary. This Lewis is on the cherokee rolls with children listed: James, Chris, Vera, Ary, and Evert by wife #2 Ella Siris. My grandfather Lewis, Jr. is on the Creek rolls #942. He named his son Lewis Jr. is on he is on the creek roll #944. That Lewis named his first born Lewis and he is still living. Although some records show a Lewis Jr born to Lewis and Ella sire with a different birthdate, there is no child, Lewis Jr on the cherokee roll. I keep thinking I will get a new scanner so I can send you copies of what I have gleaned from a few Indian families here.

Mrs. Maggie Belle Bible, 93, of Onego, died May 20, 200l at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born April 26, 1908, in Clarksburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Elizabeth Virginia (Metheny) Casto. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bible, June 8, 1972.

She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Thompson of Petersburg; one son, the Rev. Earl Bible of Seneca Rocks; two sisters, Madeline Gregg of Wolf Summit and Mary White of Clarksburg; one brother, Robert Casto of California; one
grandchild, Amanda Heavener; and two great-grandchildren, Ben and Hannah Heavener.

Funeral services were May 23, at Basagic Funeral Home chapel, Franklin, with interment in the Bible Family Cemetery, Onego.

Was your G-Grandmother born in about 1880, and was she commonly called "Rose", and did she live in N. M.? My grandmother, Nancy Celestia (Boatman) Bible was previously married and had a daughter, Rose. My dad, b. 1902, talked about her. She would have been his oldest sister, raised by Nancy and my grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Bible(s), first in Texas then in Oklahoma. If this is the right person, I don't have a great deal of information at this time, but it is available through my cousins.

Raymond Bible Dies Tuesday At Santa Anna

Raymond W. Bible, 76, of Bangs dies at Ranger Park Hospital in Santa Anna, at 4;30 am Tuesday, April 3, 1979, after suffering a heart attack at his home. Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm Wednesday, and internment followed at Santa Anna Cemetery. Under direction of Stevens Funeral home.

Officiating minister was James Scott of the Bangs church of Christ. And pallbearers were grandsons, Ray, Otis, and Jerry Bible, David and Marty Baker and Gene Brandstetter.

Mr. Bible was born at Leander, October 24, 1902, to Swan and Nora Maynard Bible, and he and Carrie Lee Wells were married in Coleman August 20, 1924. A resident of Coleman Co. since he was a child, he attended school at Whon and farmed in the Santa Anna area for many years before he retired in 1964. He moved to Bangs in 1977.

Among his survivors are his wife of Bangs, two daughters Mrs. Carmleta Brandstetter and Mrs. Shirley Baker of Brownwood, one son Lynn Bible of Bangs, three brothers, Earnest Bible of Cisco, Alvey Bible of Abilene, and Claude Bible of Santa Anna, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, A son Earl died in 1966.

James Harrison Bible

Mr. James Harrison Bible, age 89, of Wartburg passed away Thursday, July 11, 2002 at the Lifecare Center of Morgan County. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bible worked for several years for Alcoa Aluminum. Later he worked as a chemical operator with Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. He retired from the State of Tennesse as a security guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon Bible, Sr. and Bertha Sparks Bible; son, Bobby T. Bible; granddaughter, Teri Lynn Bible; brother, Looney J. Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Bowers Bible, daughter, Earlene Singleton Gregory of Harriman; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Karen of Spring City, Douglas M. and Patricia of Dover, TN, Donald W. and Kathy of Wartburg, Coy Lee of Knoxville, Roy Dale and Cheri of Wartburg, Roger Allen of Coalfield; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Harley and Junior Bible, both of Maryville.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, 2002 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. Herb Judkins officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday in Anderson Memorial Gardens.

Also, when talking to the Cox Historical Society in Greeneville about Christain Bible, they said they have 'reams' of material on him, in the library. Jim, the only Bieble I knew was Jeanne (Loncher). We worked together briefly at the Beaver County Times, PA, back in the late '50's. One day, I was going to the funeral of my Aunt Eva. It turned out Jeanne was related and going also. After I moved to California, I heard that Jeanne committed suicide. My research has shown me that back in time, the name Bieble could very well have been Bible. Being a printer for many years of my life, I know that in the early days of hot type, "e's" were scarce. It became a habit to spell double "e's," with one "e." For instance, "employee" was spelled "employe" in the newspaper world. I don't know if that had anything to do with the Bieble/Bible thing, or if it was just another human error or different names period.

Just came across this site. My grandfather was Frank Bible born in Bellefonte, PA (I think) in 1870's. He had a sister Alice (who lived in Philadelphia area) but I don't remember if he had any other siblings. He married Henrietta Caskey around 1900. They had Frank Jr., Alice, Ruth, Mary, Beatrice (Betty) and Barbara (my mom). My grandfather was a Doctor of Divinity for the Presbyterian Church and a missionary in China. My grandparents lived in Missouri, New Jersey, New York state and Illinois in Chicago area. There is some research on the family, but I don't remember much of it. However, my 85-year-old mother and 95-year-old aunt are still alive and can remember some things. Does anyone have any more information or does anyone want more information? e-mail me if you'd like

I recently received extracts of some letters from neighbors of P J Bible in Ft Graham, TX. Those letters state that P J Bible's wife (I assume Tina Clepper Bible) died some time in 1886. The letters were provided by Barbara Barnes of Grandview, TX. The originals belong to Thomas Forehand, Jr. in Tennessee. Houston Brittain Johnson, Barbara's G grandfather wrote the letters, to his brother Fountain Pitts Johnson, Thomas' GG grandfather. HB Johnson, a Baptist preacher, moved to Ft Graham in 1876. H B called his brother, a Methodist minister, "Pone".

An extract of a letter dated June 26 ,1886 says "...Well Pone, Mr. P. J. Bible one of my neighbors is here this evening he request of me to rite to you for him his wife is sick has Bin down two years with the dropsy he has had all the phesicians in the country But they have done her no good he wontes you to send him a package of medicines immediately and send full directions and rite what terms you treat sutch cases on."

An extract of a letter dated Dec 12, 1886 says: "...Well Pone you rote something about Mrs Bible. Bible got the medicines you sent in due time and gave it according to directions. It did not seem to do any good. Mrs Bible died in about 3 weeks after she got the medicine. That is the reson Bible did not rite he came over here to git me to rite. I was fixen to go to church. Bible sayed he would come back his wife got wors and died..."

Mr. Bible retired in 1988 after 38 years of service with Magnavox in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Magnavox Quarter Century Club.

He was the widower of Laura I. Bible, who died in 1997.

Survivors include his daughter: Cheryl Eggelston of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; and a sister Lorraine Ailshie of Greeneville, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 6-9 this evening at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home in New Haven.

My name is Shondra Bible your Dad is my Dad's uncle. My grandfather James William is your Dads brother but was quit a bit older than Enoch and David. My Dad is James William (Steve) Bible, my uncle Tommy Bible. We have traced the line all the way back into Germany. Here goes:

Anton Biebel b.1611 in Goersdorf, Alsace, Germany now France

That is the earliest Bible we have found he died in 1665 in Goersdorf.

This line traces back all the way to Cyrus SR., Minnie, Eliub, Ivy, and Margaret Bible who were children of E.E. Bible and Jane Gochenour. E.E. died in Newport, Arkansas November 29, 1951. I've been puzzling about who this 'John Bible' is for quite a while. The only thing I came up with was John Martin Bible, an adopted son of William Lafayette "Fate" Bible and France "Fannie" Wood. Fate and Fanny were married in "abt 1875" when Fate was 20. I have his birthdate in the database as 1877 but I guess it could be much earlier because he was adopted. Most times people adopted older children. Anyway, I have the information that he died in OK and nothing more. His wife could have been Sallie and the sons and a dau. are step children. John and Sallie are not on the 1920 census, to my knowledge.

My family is through a son by the name of Christian Biebel then Isaac and then Jacob etc. Do you have any information on Christian? I do not know anything about him.

What date are you looking for? Hanbs Biebel and Eve Mul had 13 children one of which was Lewis. I don't believe I have more than the name. Johan Bible and Margareth Speegle had a Lewis, born in 1789. I have not run into Malinda but have found a lot of incorrect names for my grandmother's line--the most common was spelling Lavinia as Luninia--whichever is correct! Kay-I don't have anything on her. A lot of the Bibles lived in Pulaski county or in the Bloodland area which is now a part of the Mark Twain National Forest. My great grandparents are buried in those areas, one of which my father and I could not get to again before he died. It would require horeseback etc. Did you check those other counties? Also I know there is a "Cheyenne Indian Woman" in the lineage but do now know name or how she fits in. I saw a picture of her with another relative. I will let you know if I see anything. Sandra

I will have to locate the picture which I am not sure is in my personal possession. I will let you know. Other old photos disappeared from my aunt's album but I have some pictures that I do not know who they are. I will revisit them and see if I see anyone and let you know. Also, Pulaski county was the heart of the Ozarks. I do not know if you are familiar with that area but they were a very close area, outsiders even revenue agents did not venture in unless they expected to die or put themselves at risk. The people protected each other and relationships were closely guarded from outsiders. This may or may not hinder research since they did believe in families. I will let you know if I find anything. I hope someone can help me. My gr gr grandmother was Dorothy Isabelle Speegle b. 24 May 1828 in GA but, moved to Rhea, TN before her first birthday. She was the dau of Phillip Michael Speegle and Priscilla (Bible or Reed). The confusion comes from the maiden name of her mother. I have found records that indicate her maiden name was REED and records that indicate her maiden name was BIBLE. Phillip Michael Speegle's mother's maiden name was Priscilla BIBLE from all I can figure out but, that may be a mistake too. Many of Phillip and Priscilla's 12 children married Bibles and of course everyone repeated given names between the Speegle and Bible decendants. (It seems all the families were fairly large too).

My Dorothy Isabelle Speegle married my gr gr grandfather, Francis Marion Delaney, and moved to MO. At least one of her siblings also married a Delaney.

I am trying to find out for SURE what Priscilla's maiden name was (REED or BIBLE) and any more information on the parents or siblings of Francis Marion Delaney.

It has occured to me that Priscilla married either a BIBLE or REED before marrying Phillip Michael Speegle and one is her maiden name and the other is a first married name but, can't find any documentation to support that theory.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Since authoring my original message, I have located my GGGrandmother, Anna Bieble Drumm in the 1900 U.S. Federal Census, Pennsylvania, Beaver, East Rochester. She was born May 1853 in Germany and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Beaver, Freedom, Pennsylvania, USA.

Anna Bieble Drumm had a brother, John. He had a son, John Baptist Bieble, who was married to (corrected spelling) Katherine Braunschlager. They had a son, John Joseph Bieble, born 10 Jun 1903 in Rochester, Beaver, Pennsylvania. John Joseph died in Jan. 1984. He had a daughter, Jeanne Loncher (married name), who may have committed suicide in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

Would like to info on Nancy Bible,(husband was Franklin Bible, m. 1878 Greene Co., d 1900). They had 10 or 11 children. Records indicate she remarried David Moss in 1920, Greene Co., and lived around the
Cedar Creek area. He died in 1930 and is buried in the National Military Cemetary in Greeneville. Records show an extensive military history in the 13th Tenn. Cav. U.S. This later marriage to Nancy Bible was unknown to the family. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Let's see if I can help: William Henry Bible was born December 20, 1851 in Creek Nations (Ok?). He married Mary Elizabeth Locker, July 28, 1870 and died July 7, 1933 in Talala, Rogers, Oklahoma. He was the son of Adam M. and Eliza Jane Greene Bible. According to the 1850 Milam county, Texas census there were 7 older children. Email me and I will give you what I have.

Mr. Bibble was a graduate of Broadway High School and was employed by West Dean Painting. Along with his parents, he is survived by a daughter Cassie Nichole Bibble of Hinton (VA), a brother, Grant Alden Bibble of Route 1, Linville, VA and grandparents, Weldon K. and Carrie Moyers of Timberville (VA) and Nina Mae Bibble of Route
1, Linville.

There are two Aaron Bibles there who could possibly be yours. It is a great resource.

Sandra, I'm trying to find out about my grandfather Marvin Haskel Ferguson born in Missouri or Kentucky 07-16-1889 died in Houston, TX 1958. He married a Laura Pryor and had 3 children, Lester, Marvin and Patricia. I would appreciate knowing if you have come across him.

Iwould appreciate any information on Fredericka Probst, born in 1824 in Hannover,proably Seldane. Came to America in the 1850's, married Andreus Strueh. Settled in Vanderburgh County, is buried in Salem Cemetary in Vanderburgh County.

Are you 'Addie Ruth', daughter of Clara Katherine Bible, granddaughter of Henry Allen Bible? {You say you are related to the names of "Bible, Guilliams, Bigby, Foreman" so I hope that's the right name!}

I'm sorry but I don't know, exactly, who your Aaron Bible(s) parents are. :-( I've been working with Debra since 1998, now and then. We THINK we've narrowed it down but we can't prove it. The most likely person is John M. Bible who had a son named (only) A. E. Bible in abt 1853 but that's not the only possibility.

Cozzetta M. Bible age 61 of Canton, Oh., passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, June 21, 2001 in Union Hospital, Dover, Oh.

Born in Corbin, KY., July 23, 1939 to her parents the late George Edgar and Edna Westerfield, she has been a resident of the Canton area since 1967. Mrs. Bible was an active member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene, member of the Missionary Society and former Sunday School teacher. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Genesis.

Survivors include her husband, Harold D. Bible of the home to whom she was married 42 years, her daughter and son-in-law; Carla S. Bible-Graden and John Graden of Massillon, Oh., three sons and daughters-in-law; Edgar Carl and Colleen Bible of North Canton, Oh., Boyd Duane and Gayle Bible of Oklahoma City, OK., Gaylen and Amy Bible of Canton, Oh., two grandsons, one granddaughter, two brothers, Bobby and Garry Westerfield both of Corbin, KY. There are several nieces and nephews also surviving.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday 11:00 A.M. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Michael L. Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home Sunday 7-9 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in her name to Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Smith Avenue S.W., Canton, Oh. 44706.
