Hi everyone, my name is Martina. I'm italian and i live in Prato, Tuscany.
I'm searching for a brother of my mother's grandmother.... it's a little bit complicated :D:D:D

His name was Mario and his parents were Ernesto Biagi e Teresa Toccafondi. They lived in Vernio, Prato, Tuscany, Italy. They were 13 siblings, but only Mario with his older brother Anselmo left for the Usa in 1911 from Genova.
At that time Mario was about 16/17 years old. I found some records of the ship (America), and two death records from Napa, California dated March 1973. His last known recidence was Alameda.
I know he was married, but i can't find anything about it!!!
If you can give me some advice to how find it, or if you know something about him, please let me know. I'll appreciate it.
Thanks

Hello Martina,

My name's Nicole. I am very intrigued by your post. I have been looking for information to connect these two families (Biagi and Toccafondi) and I think you may have finally done it for me.

I don't have information on Mario... But I wondered if your grandmother had perhaps another brother named Gerencio (or something similar as it is very hard to read from ship manifests).

In 1905 my great-great-grandmother, Assunta Falconi, immigrated to the USA with a couple, a man named [Gerencio Biagi] and woman named Emiliana Innocente.

Her husband Grisanti Toccafondi had left two years prior.

What I find interesting is that much of my family also ended up in Alameda, California (as well as Montana).

I would be happy to ask around my family about Mario, but I was wondering if you could perhaps help me as well.

I am currently trying to find a way to locate birth records for my great-grandfather (Pietro Toccafondi) who immigrated with his mother Assunta. An older family member sent me in the direction of San Quirico d'Orcia... but now reading your message, I wonder if instead they simply were referring to San Quirico.

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions or does anyone in you family know of Grisanti or Assunta?

Please let me know and I will let you know If I can find out about Mario's marriage and any additional facts.

Thank you.
