Bevilacqua Brothers in NY/NJ

Classification: Query
Surnames: Bevilacqua, Mangini
My great grandmother was Rosa Bevilacqua, born Apr 1881 (according to 1900 census). Her arrival record (9 Nov 1897) states she left Genoa 28 Oct 1897 and was going to NY to stay with her brother and uncle.

By 1900 she was living in Pompton Township (Midvale), Passaic County, NJ. She married Luigi Mangini in 1899. They had 3 girls: Teressa (Renie) in 1900, Palmyra in 1901 and Mary Amelia (Minnie) in 1903.

Both Rose and Luigi came from Torriglia, Liguria, Genova.

Around 1907, Luigi became ill and went on a sea voyage for his health. However he died in Italy just afterward.

Rose, now widowed, remarried in 1908. She married Stephen Shutte, also from Italy and had 3 boys, August, Robert and John.

Rose died 27 Sep 1936 in Wanaque, Passaic, NJ and is buried at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Butler, NJ.

Stephen Shutte died in 1957 and is buried in the same cemetery.

What I am trying to determine is who are the brother and uncle she stayed with in NY? Is it the bakery brothers?

in 1910 (census info) there were the following Bevilacquas in Wanaque, NJ: John, born 1800 in Italy; Louis (wife) b-1884 in Italy. They had 4 children born in NJ: John, 1908; Angelina, 1910; Joseph, 1912; Louise, 1914.

Any information that may help me to find Rose's family will be greatly appreciated.

According to a family Bible, we know that Rose DID come from Torriglia in Genoa.

Hoping to hear from some new cousins!

Pic of Luigi is attached; nothing on Rose/Rosa so far.

Stephen
