Mrs. Sarah J. Betzer, widow of Reuben Betzer, died at 1:30 Friday morning at her home 358 East William street. Her death was caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Betzer was 80 years old Jan 9 and had lived in Decatur about forty four years. She had been in poor health for the past two years but had only been confined to her bed for one week.
Mrs. Betzer's, maiden name was Sarah J. Evans. She was born in Circleville, O. She was married to Reuben Betzer December 31, 1848. They moved to Decatur in 18** and built the house at 358 East William street which remained their home during the balance of their lives. They never had any children of their own though Mrs. Amos Imboden, a niece lived with them from the time she was 13 years old until her marriage with Amos Imboden. Mr. Betzer died March 18, 1896. Mrs. Betzer leaves one brother, Reason Evans of Aetna Ind. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and was widely known and held in high regard.
The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the residence. The services will be conducted by Rev. W. H. Penhallagen. The interment will be at Greenwood.
