This has definitely been a long time, but Chris I would love to hear from you. My ancestry goes like this Mathias Van Best son of Robert and Margaret Van Best. M V born in 1830 in Mercer County Pa.. Robert was son of Alexander Best whose wife was named Elizabeth I think. and he was son of Robert and Maria of Westmoreland Co.
Robert who married Margaret Van Horn was twice married first time to possibly a Fanny Campbell . From the first marriage he had three Children from census info looks like 2 Boys and a girl. One of the Boys was I believe was Alexander C born in Butler County Pa in may of 1826.In the 1880 census living with him are a niece and Nephew who last names were Penn. These were the Children of Mary Jane Best Penn ( one of Mathias Sisters). I checked the 1880 census and Found Mary Jane and her husband who's name I can't recall inn Illinois and absent were these 2 children. Alexander C died iCal 1904-1907 in Iowa.
I have the death of Robert Best ( husband of Margaret) Margaret filed a mother Pension on her son Isaiah Joseph who died in the Civil in there she states she is a widown and that her husband Robert Best died in Cadiz Ohio on March 16 1853.
I'm sorry I am confused I don't know who Sarah is.
A long time ago I had a copy of Robert Sr will probated 1817-1820. He names his children Polly, Sally, Jane, and Nancy Ann ( commonly known as Ann). She married James Johnston and Polly I believe is the Polly Best who married Peter Vrooman in 1818. Another name in the was Poole, so I have wondered if that is Sally or Janes husband.
