Bergeron dit Damboise

This story begins in the late 17th century (about 1698) when Gabriel Godin
and his wife, Andree-Angelique JEANNES settled/founded the village of Point
Saint Anne. During the following years the village prospered and grew. Then
in February 1759 a small force of British Troupes (15 men) led by a Lt Moses
Hazen raided and destroyed the Acadian village of Pointe Sainte Anne, (The
village was located where downtown Fredericton is now) as a consequence of
this raid some innocent civilians were killed. These civilians were hastily
buried in the village cemetery. This cemetery has since been mistakenly
identified as an Indian Cemetery when in reality it is an Acadian Cemetery.

Now, we fast forward to 1933 when the cemetery was once again disturbed!
This time by a Dr. Wintemberg who came to Point Saint Anne with the
expectations of finding pre-historic (First Nation) remains and was
surprised to find, buried closely together, and in one case two in one
grave, not Indians, but Europeans. In all, seven skeletons were examined.
(Two of these remains were those of Anastasie Godin and Madeleine Guilbaut)
In no case was there any evidence of Indian (First Nation) at the site. The
remains of the two women were then removed to Ottawa where they remain
today. As an Acadian and a descendant of Anstasie's family my desire is to
have her (their) remains returned to her (their) rightful resting place,
Pointe Saint Anne. And the cemetery there properly identified and declared
as a National Historical Site.

The Bergeron-Damboise families are planning, in conjunction with The Society
of History of the River Saint Jean (SHRSJ) a commemoration of the 250 year
anniversary of the destruction of the village. We are calling for all
Acadians to rally with us in Fredericton on the weekend of the 18th/19th of
July (Saturday and Sunday) 2009. This calling includes all Acadians who are
descended from the Godin, Saindon, Pare, Bergeron, St Aubin Families as well
as any other Acadian family group. Please contact, for Canadian, Aline
Cormier (alicor@nb.sympatico.ca) or, for USA, Lawrence Bergeron
(larrybergeron@earthlink.net) for further details.

The maternal side of my husband’s family have lived in Cornwall for many years (many tho not all of them). His great grandparents Frank Bergeron (born 1861 & Zoe Bonsecour (born 1865), married at St. Mary’s in Williamstown, Ontario in Feb. 1883. They were married by a man who later became Bishop of Ottawa (Rev. Father Gauthier). They had 11 children: Caroline (my husband's maternal grandmother), Leila, Tena, Muriel, Jennie, Ernest, Perry, Leonard, Florence (died young), Avery (who died when a load of ice fell on him) & Clarence (who drowned aged 14). I wonder where he lived before that.If any of you want to see what I have you can look at my genealogy page www.acadian-roots.com ,If you can add to it . please let me know?
Aline

Looking for information on my newly found relatives! John Bergeron, born in 1867, in Illinois, married Julia (Unknown), who was born in 1874, in Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1877, at the age of 4. These two had eight children that I am aware of: Joseph, b. 1892 in Illinois; Roy (this could be Ray), b. 1894 in Illinois; Theodore, b. 1897 in Illinois; Leona, b. 1898 in Illinois; Victoria, b. 1900 in Michigan; Veronica, b. 1903 in Michigan; Carrie, b. 1905 in Michigan; and, Beatrice, b. 1908 in Illinois. In 1910 the family lived in DeKalb County, Illinois, town of Sycamore. Their third son/child is my grandfather, whom I never knew. I do know that John and Julia's son, Theodore married Elsie Archer and had two sons, Leonard b. in 1919 and Theodore b. in 1922 (my father). Around 1935, Theodore divorced Elsie and married another woman (unknown) and had two children with her. I believe their names were Jeanne and John. Both were born in the mid to late 30's. It is believed that this family of four lived on the west side of the City of Chicago. Because of divorces and deaths, until this week I really didn't know about any of these siblings except for Leona, who married a man by the name of Keating and raise a family in Illinois. If you know of any information on any of these people or about John and Julia, please let me know. We have a Bergeron line as well. Thank you.
Because of divorces and deaths, until this week I really didn't know about any of these siblings except for Leona, who married a man by the name of Keating and raise a family in Illinois. If you know of any information on any of these people or about John and Julia, please let me know. We have a Bergeron line as well. Thank you.
They had a daughter Mary Bergeron born in Bloomfield, Vermont on Feb 04, 1883. She married an Andrew O'Donnell (she and he are my grandparents). I am at a deadend regarding my family on that side. Any assistance or information will be great. Even the slightest bit of information will help. Thank you all very much.

Looking for parents of Mary Bergeron

Looking for info on my gg grandmother Mary BERGERON, b. Nov 27, 1849 (possibly in Canada), d. Jul 2, 1938 possibly in Uxbridge, MA. m. Felix ALLAIRE-ALLEN Nov 5, 1871 in Uxbridge, MA. Mary's father is Francois Bergeron. Felix ALLAIRE-ALLEN b. Jul 15, 1840.

Looking for Mary's place of birth, her mother's name and any other information that you might have about her parents.

I found a Family Group Record on the LDS site for a Marie Julie Bergeron born about 1850 in Quebec. Parents were Francois Elisee Bergeron and Clarisse Boisvert. Francois and Clarisse were married on Aug 3, 1847 at Sainte-Croix, Lotbiniere, Quebec. Does anyone tie in to this family? It's the closest match that I have found for a Mary Bergeron born Nov 27, 1849 with a father named Francois Bergeron.

Here are a couple of other possibilities that I found on the LDS site:

Marie Elisabeth Eloise Bergeron, born May 22, 1851 at St-Celestin, Nicolet, Quebec. Parents were Francois Bergeron and Marie Elisabeth Eloise Bergeron,

Marie Madeleine Bergeron, born Oct 4, 1851, Providence, RI. Parents were Francois Bergeron and Elisa Grabert.

Thanks,

Roland Beausoleil

rbeausoleil@earthlink.net

Looking for information on Marion Frida Bergere, born in September 1908 in, lived in NYC late 1920's through late 1950's. Passed on in 1982. Might have americanized her name from Maria Florida Bergeron.
Although one document says she was born in France, another in NYC, and another in St. Valere, Quebec, Canada, She verbally told everyone she was born in a town in Quebec where her parents and a few brothers and sisters lived and also had family in Fitchberg, Mass. Fahers name was either Joseph or Samuel, mother was either Ann Roy or Ann Romaner. Any information would be appreciated.
