Some clarification on this tricky family. The birth states aren't consistent on so many of the censuses.

It's weird that on the 1880 (shown below Jesse's family) that Tiny Benson would say he was born in Alabama, his father was born in South Carolina, and his mother in North Carolina. So if Jesse Benson keeps saying he was born in Mississippi then SC doesn't match him, nor the Mary seen in the 1860 and 1870 censuses with Jesse. What states do Tiny's later censuses have for his parents. Maybe they self-correct.

Agnes Tackett isn't Jesse's wife, nor James Malone Benson's mother. She's James' last wife. They married the year after Sarah Murry died.

Could everyone please check your research notes and see what your source was for Agnes Tackett's being the wife of Jesse Benson and the mother of all those kids. Look for the first time you saw it. We're looking for the earliest date it was published somewhere.

Has anyone found the marriages or death of either of Jesse Benson's known wives?
-- 1st wife, Mary seen on the 1860 and 1870 censuses born in South Carolina, or
-- 2nd wife "Lieuticia" born in Alabama seen on the 1880 census.
