This time I was able to write, I can include a picture of my grandfather Harry Bennitt. He was born 7 SEP 1802 Millport, New York married Mary Mc Clure. He was a son of Ephraim Bennett b. 1 MAY 1762 Warwick,Kent,Rhode Island d. 26 OCT 1843 Dix,Schuyler, New York married Hannah Humilty Bentley. His father was Ephriam Bennett Sr. b. 30 April 1736 or 1741 in Rhode Island, d. 26 OCT 1813 Married Mary Jane Stafford. Ephriam's father was Samuel Bennett b. 1690 Rhode Island d. 1782. married to Mary Stafford.
When I grew up I was always told that we had northern tribes of Canada, Cree, Ojib'we and northern tribes in the Bennitt family. And my uncle told me it was the name of Benoit. One reason why my great grandpa insisted on the name with the itt. His father and other family members stuck with ett.
We are lactose intolerant and dark skinned haired and eyes. Harrys nephew Stepehn Beers Bennett who wrote a book about the Bennetts said it was from the French that we are dark. In his book he also remarked about possible sleeping aroundand possible children from others.
Just for the heck of it I had my fathers DNA taken, and we do have Cree, Ojib'we, northern tribes and Quebec French Canadian and Toulouse France DNA.
