Re: Curt Oswin Benedix

I know this post is old and I am hoping that it reaches you. Curt is my GG Grandfather- (Mother's-Mother's- Mother's- Father). It is said (from my grandmother- who knew him) that he migrated to Texas from Germany with his father and brother. The Family owned a mill in Germany and the three migrated to the US ahead of the women to set up a life here before they came. Plans never worked out and the Mother cut ties with them after several years. My Grandmother remembers his love of classical music. She says she remembers him listening to his classical records every afternoon. He was not born in Texas. He died in my Grandmother's junior year of high school.

Mike, I see you posted this in 2007, so don't know if you are still looking for the Benedix Family. Eddie Lewis is my husband and my name is Joyce Benedix Lewis. My Great-Grandfather, Moritz Benedix lived in Thailheim /Valley Home, passed away in 1915 and is buried in the Valley Home Memorial Park. I believe the family that you are looking for are my deceased father's 1/2 Uncles whose fathers were Richard, Otto, Paul, and I believe the fourth was Max. They are the 1/2 brothers of my grandfather, Hugo Emil Benedix who lived in Texas. If you are still interested, I believe that I can supply some missing information for you.

Hi, my great great grandfather (Fred W Benedix) married a Christina Jensen around 1873(Davenport/LeClaire IA area). Moved to Avoca, IA for a short while before being one of the early settlers in Pierson, IA (Woodbury County). My gggrandfather lived from 1844-1939. Both are buried in Greenwood Cemetary south of Pierson. I believe that they had 9 children (7 girls and 2 boys). The Benedix family were from Plau, Germany (Mechlenburg area). Immigrated to the US in 1852

I am looking for a Mrs Fred Benedix of Iowa who was related to a Jorgen (George) Jensen who was born in Elstrup, Als. of either Germany or Denmark 15 Oct 1854. He emigrated to the US in 1874 and came to Pottawattamie County, Iowa in Feb. 1874. In 1879 he moved to the Cordova, Nebraska area. He married Marie Katherine (Jensen). Unsure if last names were the same. Mrs Benedix also had a sister who remained in Denmark, Elizabeth (Jensen) Christensen. A possible first name for Mrs Fred Benedix could be Christene, born about 1849 and emigrating here 1871.
