Thank you for your reply. I see you have replied to many threads and you seem to have much information that others cannot find online as is the case with myself. I have been tracking the Belanger family tree on my Ondrejicka-Manz-Belongia(Belanger) public member tree(I am the home person). Everything on that tree is documented or it does not become included. It has been hard to find documents online as our Belanger ancesters migrated away from Quebec through Montreal and Ontario to Wisconsin. I would guess that many of the Belangers and Belongias are linked to Francois and Angeline Beauchamp and also Michel.

The children of Francois and Angeline Beauchamp has been my biggest challenge. I have seen Joseph before with some strong evidence on other public member trees. He was married to Hermine Auger, the daughter of Paul Auger and Marie Nantel which would make her Angeline's sister.

I have not ever seen the others but I have evidence that there is another brother, Felix Ferdinand Belanger. I have a death certificate for him showing Angeline Beauchamp as his mother. Joseph also has his name on there as the informant. I also have a death registry for Francois sr from Ontario Canada listing Felix as his son. I believe that Felix brought Angeline Beauchamp to Wisconsin after Francois' death. I have a 1900 Census showing Angeline again as Felix' mother in Oconto County.

Moving on to the children of Francois and Angeline Auger you may have some families crossed or possibly some who were married or lived apart from the family before the 1870 census. I have been unable to find an 1861 census of Canada for Francois that may show the complete family. The children I show are as follows;

I have had some difficulty with William and Peter.
Francois and Angeline began in Door County about 1868 before the 1870 census and later moved to Oconto before 1880. James, Jane, and I believe William stayed in Door or Green Bay Counties and remained Belangers. Those moving to Oconto County became Belongias.

I live in Waukesha,WI. I am the great grandson of John Belongia. I have a marriage registry listing him as John Belanger son of Francois Belanger and Angeline. John and Alvina Chenevert had 12 children;

Your great grandfather must be the person listed in 1870 and 1880 as Delphise or Delphine. Ada Sanders would be your great grandmother? Did Adolf take over Francois' farm and live there with Angeline after his death?

Many records for the Belanger/Belongia families are available at UW Green Bay Cofrin Library and Area Research Center or the local county courthouses for anyone willing to make the trip.

Francois is also my Great Great Grandpa. Greetings cousin. I live in Menominee Michigan. Francois and Angeline Auger had a son Israil Adolphus "Adolph" he was my great garndpa. He Died in Escanaba, Michigan. He and his 1 and only child Frank are buried in the Rapid River Cemetery.

Francois Belanger-Belongia, 1820-1898, looking for more family members

My 2nd GGrandfather is Francois who came to Wisconsin about 1868. Born in Quebec in 1820, cdied in Oconto, WI 1898 married to Angeline Auger 1842 in Quebec.His linage is Francois 1794 and Angeline Beauchamp, Michel Amable 1761, Jean Baptiste, Basile, Francois, Charles, Francois 1612. I am unable to find any sibblings of my 2nd GGrandfather Francois or his father Francois, who died in Ontario in 1878, on Ancestry or any other Belanger websites I have seen.
I believe he had a brother Felix Ferdinand Belanger-1837 who came to Oconto in 1877 but I cannot find documentation. I'm sure records exist but may not be available online. Few records exist online for Francois-1794 or Michel Amable. I have viewed many other family trees and come up empty. Our family surname became Belongia after coming to Wisconsin.
Can anyone help?

My grandfather was Clifford Belongea and he lived in the riverside area of Sioux City. He passed away in the late 1960's. His wife was Gladys. They had two children, Milton and Guinevere. Milton was born June 10,1932. Guinevere passed away about 5 years ago.

I do not know if you are still looking on these forums anymore, but I think I have information on Jean Baptiste's brother, Pierre. I am fairly certain that he is my great, great grandfather. If I am correct, he was married to Dagmar Larson (also known as Bertha) In the 1910 Census, it showed that Bertha and her family lived next door to a Carriveau family in Oconto South Ward, District 107. Bertha and Pierre had a daughter, Luella. Luella's death certificate lists her father as Peter Belongia of Two Rivers, Oconto County, WI. The dates and ages match. Our family lore told us that Luella's father died when she was really little so his death would be between 1911 and 1915. If anyone knows for a fact that I am going down the wrong path with this, please let me know.

Wilbert Grall was my grandfather. Cecelia, my grandmother, died in a car accident, quite young, when my father (still living) was only 3 years old. Wilbert, left with my Dad and several older daughters, married again, and had many more children. Like rabbits, Catholics in Wisconsin. I knew Glen and Grace.

I have just been handed a family tree that has Christine Champaeau (b. 1857 d. 1939) and John Belongia(B. 1854 d.1923)from my aunt. I am still trying to figure out exactly where I fit into things. But if this matches your great great great grandparents, then I bet we are related. They are in generation 6 out of 9 that I have. I published a book for John R. Larson called "Airplane Rides". His mother was Mabel Mary Truckey. Mabel's mother was Emma (Lessor) Truckey. Emma's parents were Emma Belongia and John Lessor Jr.

I know my maiden name, Belongy, was changed at some point but I'm not sure where. The last one I can find is Edward Harry Lewis Belongy, my grandfather, born in 1909 in Menominee, Michigan. Has anyone heard of him or how I can find out his parent's name?

MacNair.

His great grandparents were Jeremiah (Jerry) Patrick O'Malley and Norene Elizabeth Belongia.
Jerry was b. c1880 & d. c1921.

Wilton "Zobek" Belongia, 94, Oconto, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Woodlands of Oconto. Wilton was born July 6, 1912, in Oconto, to the late John and Josephine (Zobek) Belongia. He married Lucille Heroux on Oct. 12, 1935. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2000. Wilton enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to play any card game anytime. He worked at Scott Paper Co., Oconto Falls for 27 years, retiring in 1975. Wilton was proud to live in "French Town" all his life. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Wilton is survived by two daughters, Pat (Ray) Detaege, Green Bay; Helen (Roger) Vandenack, De Pere; four sisters, Pearl Bauers, Kenosha; Delores Kaster, Suamico; Gen (Conrad) Sylvester, Lt. Suamico; Faye Scultz, Rochester, Minn.; a granddaughter, Becki Detaege; four sisters-in-law, Gert Belongia, Oconto; Rosemary Belongia, Kenosha; Elaine Heroux, Oconto; Cecil Heroux, Peshtigo; a brother-in-law, Eldon Larson, Bloomington, Minn.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, with prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with the Rev. I am researching the Belanger family from Brazeau, in Oconto County. I know the family
resided there around 1868 through 1896. Name variations range from Belanger to
Belongia. My GGGrandfather was Jean Baptiste Belanger/Belongia and my
GGGrandmother was Agathe Duschene/Deschene/Duchene. Their daughter, Amabilis (pictured in attachment) is
my GGrandmother who married Jean Baptiste Lessard/Lessor Jr. Information on her and

have no information on the siblings of Amabilis or information on Jean Baptiste
Belanger/Belongia’s siblings. This Belanger line consists of:

married Jean-Baptiste Belanger, son of Augustin Belanger and Marguerite Juneau, the 10th of January
1831 in Maskinonge.

Jean Vincent Miville-Deschenes, son of Jean Miville-Deschenes (from Riviere Ouelle) and Elise Beaudet (from what
I can make out), married Marguerite Lemire, daughter of Garbrel Lemire and Angele Desserre (or Dosserre), the 19th
of January 1807 at Maskinonge.

Augustin Belanger, son of Jacques Belanger and Marguerite Lord, married Marguerite Juineau (as it was
spelled under this index listing), daughter of Alexis Juineau and Louise Lefebvore, the 3rd of June 1793 at
Louiseville.

Jacque Belanger, son of Augustin Belanger (from Montmagny) and Louise Lapointe, married Marguerite
Lord, daughter of Charles Lord (from Acadie-probably French-Huegenot) and Josephte Doucet, the 23rd
of January 1769 at Louiseville.

Any help along these lines, or any help regarding this family would be greatly appreciated.

AJ, I am sure that there is a connection,. Could you give me some more information on your Belongia family. You surely know that Belongia is not the only way that the name was spelled.... Belongie, Bellanger, Belanger, Belongey, Belongay,,, etc... Are there other areas that you are aware of that your family came from? The line of Belongia's that are in the area here came to the area from Bay Settlement, Brown Co. They came to that area from Canada. The family of Edward Bellanger did spread out from Brown Co. My GGrandfathers name was Louis Belongia, from the Rhinelander area. My grandfather was Raymond Belongia. I know that Raymond had a sister named Rose Belongia who married an Evers, (last name). He also had a brother whose name I cannot recall at this time.

A.J.-- Ask your father if he had a brother by the name of Raymond Ambrose Belongia. Raymond is my grandfather. They also had a sister name Rose who married into the Zdroik family. I do beleive though that we are in the same family here.

I am also researching the Belongia/Bellangers of Oconto, Oconto, WI.

I have a John Baptiste m. Clara Desjarlais on 26MAY1903. He is the son of Leon Bellanger b.1840 and Elizabeth DeCloux/Duclous both hailing from Canada. They were married on 21SEP1863. I do not have further information on either of the previous mentioned.

John's siblings are as follows: My GGGrandfather, Louis Philip b.Mar1866 m. Hellen Carriveau 16APR1888; Oliver b.Jan 1870 m. Olive Carriveau 23APR1894; Simon Pierre m. Virginia Noel 17SEP1900; Frank Zavier .Jeanne Belanger 12NOV1906; Pierre Leon m. Dagny? Mary Larson 29AUG1910; Edward b.Apr 1878; Nepolian b.1863; and Levi b. 1869.

I am not a Belongy but am doing research for a friend at work and her grandmother was Melvina Belognie born in 1886 in Michigan. She married George Lacomb and they raised their children in Menominee, Escanaba, and Dagget. I haven't been able to find any family to her but I do believe her parents were from Canada. There could be a connection between the two.

Yes the Frank and Jane you seek are from Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. Jane was my Great Grandpas sister. Her parents are Francois Belanger and Angeline Auger. Francois' parents are Francois Belanger and Angeline Beauchamp. If you go to the family tree section and type in the search for a Francois Belongia you will find that side of your tree.

Again this is on my mothers side of Belangers. Jean Father was Edward Belongie and Mother Aurelia Brunett. His father was Jean Belongia and mother Angelique Forcier. I think you are in luck. I am related to those belangers from my mother side. Louis Belongie was born in Bay Settlement 1859. His Father was Edward and Mother Aurelia Brunette. Edwards Father was Jean Belongie who married Angelique Forcier. Go to the famliy tree section and search for Jean Belanger and you will have your tree back to france.

I have 2 possibilities for you. In the 1910 census there is 2 families of Belongy living in Menominee both with sons being born in 1907.

Harry Belongy's parents are William and Margaret

Louis's Parents are Louis and Tina

If its william he died before 1920 probably in Menominee.

You could try looking up Obits and death certificates. Or maybe older relatives. If you can find out which one it is I can probably get you back to about 1590

I have just recently recieved information about a Howard Belongea who married a Gertrude Swanson. They had no children from what I am told. I have very little info on them. they would have been born in the early 1900s possibly 1904-1906. Gertrude swanson was the daughter of Martin and Sadie(Johnson) Swanson. If anyone can help me with some dates it would be appreciated

And My Great Great Grandfather is John Belongia married to Christina Champeau.. wow.. we probably are related somehow.. thats all i know about that part of my family.. if you could help me out... please email me..

Sounds like that is my GGrandfather. If it is my grandfather, his son, was Raymond Ambrose Belongia.
