I'm researching my Bells of Bedford/Fulton Co PA. I have a John, Joseph (d. 1813) and John (b. 1769 d. before 1850). They were land owners there being taxed in 1773 and in later census records. I also found a Humphrey, Stophel and William Bell taxed in Ayr Twp in 1773. A Humphrey Bell is taxed in Chester Co as early as 1747 and shows up in church records there in 1765. A Humphrey Bell is named in the Chester Co will of Theophilus Thomas in 1768 as son-in-law. Humphrey Bell married Anne Thomas in Chester Co. How was this Humphrey related to the Humphrey who was taxed in Ayr Twp Bedford (later Fulton Co PA)? This is the only time he shows up there. I believe the Humphrey who married Anne Thomas had sons John and William and daughter Margaret. Was he related to John and Joseph Bell who were in Dublin/Ayr Twp beginning in the 1770's and later?
