A researcher... I do quite a lot of it, if you click on my name you'll see a portion of the answers I have post on various boards and I'm also a board admin, including for this one... and I also do transcripts, so I'm use to see the type of errors that can be made, specialy when someone try to transcribe something that is in a language they are not suffisantly familiar with... like Duchesneau being transcribe as Duckerman, causing people to search for a couple that don't even exist and they can end up blocked for years... and that one is a real exemple that I helped solved recently...

My best advice when someone is stuck with a name that don't fit or don't make sens and they are pretty sure it's not an "aka", is to look at its general shape when handwritten and compare with others that have a similar shape... the biggest mistake many people do is to try too much to find someone that is an absolute perfect match with the info they already have, not realising that there are errors at many levels, priests made errors in records, transcribers make errors, moving from one linguistic area to another will cause for more mistakes and variations... and like if that wasn't enough many of our ancestors seemed to enjoyed changing names (given names and surnames) and some did it so often it makes you feel like your turning in circle and can't figure out who's who... and if you add to the mix homonyme couples that can send you totaly off track... researching is not always easy... it takes patience and an open mind...

Wish I could help more, but I don't have that couple in any of my databases or research tools and by the dates chances are they were married outside of Quebec.

Good Luck...!!!
