Bedia from Santander Spain

Any Bedia's from Santander Spain that may have moved to Barre, Washington, Vermont? In my family, my great grandmother was Louisa Bedia 1888-1958, and her parents were Petra Maza 1857-1928 & Alexander Bedia.. I don't know who Alexanders parents were, nor his dates of death or birth, as far as I know they both died in Vermont. Alexander & Petra moved with Louisa from Spain to Vermont, and I am hoping to see who her sibilings may have been?

Louisa Bedia married a Abilio Amor also born in Santander Spain, 1885-1948.. my grandfather is an Amor. any info would help!

Hi Wanda, I, too am doing family tree research on the Cerro/Teoli/Yattaw/Ross/Currier/Harrigan/Loveland/Ferrell/Hutchinson/Lyons families....Lucy Shivak send me the information....but I lost my entire family tree in my laptop last year due to bad virus in my laptop. However, I did remove the hard drive to be saved until I get myself new computer/server so I can put the hard drive back on to retrieve all of my family tree (that is if it's not being erased). I am interested in the Bedia family tree, too. I still have the information that Lucy gave me including the ones that were left in NY of my parents-in-laws' home after both passed away in 2006 and 2007 both of cancer. I took them with me so I can review if there are any additional information.

Are you in facebook? If so, I am...I can be found as Christine Cerro with my Miss America gold crown next to it. I hope to set up a webpage in the future to contain my family tree heritage.

I am Henry Cerro's wife, Christine.

Christine Cerro
christine.cerro@123mail.net

Welcome! I was beginning to think there were no thers out there. So far I know very little about them except that my husbands family came from Santander, Spain, and came to America and settle in Montpelier, Vermont and Boston, Massachusetts. There is also a bunch of Bedias in Montpelier, Vermont that I haven't been able to connect to yet, but hope I will soon or a later. So far I have conncected the followinf names to our Bedia family: Monte, Montes, Alverde (also found spelled Alberde), Quijano, Cerro. Thanks for your response and stay tuned.

Wanda

Hello, my name is Jessica and I just happened to stumble across this message. My family is also from the philippines although I was born in NY and now reside in Michigan. My last name is Bedia. Although I have not dug much further into my linage, my father's side is strongly spanish. The Bedia family is pretty large yet very close and proud and stick to their spanish traditions. Most reside in the province of Luzon. My aunt who is now the eldest on my father side is now the matriarchal head of the family there. She lives in a spanish villa and of course i have a few dozen cousins I'm sure exist whom ive never met. My father has a gold spanish coin he had passed down to him that he has made into a ring. It is likely that Ms.Guillory and I are related in some way, perhaps cousins. I still have yet to visit the philippines and find out more about my ancestry :)

Re: Bedia Genealogy

The historical research center in 1993 provided my brother Rafael Ignacio Bedia of Roanoke , Va with a coat of arms for the Bedia name. I will read part of it. It says that the Bedia name is if you will in spanish a "vasco" name from the judicail province of Durango,Spain. Its hard to translate but it says, other houses are Elorrio,Galdako,Usansolo,Balmaceda who moved to or in the province of Santander. My grand father was Jose Bedia Diaz born in 1890. His father, my great grand father, left Cuba and returned to Spain. I will do some research it may take days but I will speak to other family members. I have spoken to A.Cotera about but the fmaily tree but did not do much work on it. Moving on... of course you know there is a town North of Bilbao, Spain with the name Bedia. There is also a Bedias,Texas which the people there say came from th Bidai Indians of that area.In myresearch, I know that can not be because there are too many Spanish names in area.Ariola, Carlos, etc. I believe but do not have proof but my best guess is that a laborer from a traveling ship of I forget the name might be Lafayette, gosh I can't think of explorer in area but anyway they found a sunken ship near Galveston in last 15 years, he veered off and probably traded with the Indians and possibly helped them so they settled that area. I have not done the research so I can't prove this but that's my guess the town is near Bryan and College Station,Texas. I have a book on the town My Home Town. I visited when I was 13 and whne my son was 14 so

good luck!
