The historical research center in 1993 provided my brother Rafael Ignacio Bedia of Roanoke , Va with a coat of arms for the Bedia name. I will read part of it. It says that the Bedia name is if you will in spanish a "vasco" name from the judicail province of Durango,Spain. Its hard to translate but it says, other houses are Elorrio,Galdako,Usansolo,Balmaceda who moved to or in the province of Santander. My grand father was Jose Bedia Diaz born in 1890. His father, my great grand father, left Cuba and returned to Spain. I will do some research it may take days but I will speak to other family members. I have spoken to A.Cotera about but the fmaily tree but did not do much work on it. Moving on... of course you know there is a town North of Bilbao, Spain with the name Bedia. There is also a Bedias,Texas which the people there say came from th Bidai Indians of that area.In myresearch, I know that can not be because there are too many Spanish names in area.Ariola, Carlos, etc. I believe but do not have proof but my best guess is that a laborer from a traveling ship of I forget the name might be Lafayette, gosh I can't think of explorer in area but anyway they found a sunken ship near Galveston in last 15 years, he veered off and probably traded with the Indians and possibly helped them so they settled that area. I have not done the research so I can't prove this but that's my guess the town is near Bryan and College Station,Texas. I have a book on the town My Home Town. I visited when I was 13 and whne my son was 14 so

good luck!
