Ruth Irene Beckman Schuller,
formerly of McKean Township,Erie,County,Pennsylvania,
passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born in Erie, Pa.
on August 21, 1916,
a daughter of the late Raymond and Ella Cardinal Beckman. Ruth attended McKean High School.
She was a homemaker and loved her family, gardening, quilting and word puzzles. Ruth was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean and was currently a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hershey Road in Erie.PA,
She was involved in the Lutheran Church Women, Altar Guild, church council and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the McKean Golden Agers and also volunteered at the Lutheran Home for the Aged (now Village at Luther Square) for many years.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Martin Schuller, Sr.,
five sisters: Laura Volkman,
Mable Blount,
Florence Moser,
Pearl Fratus,
and Dorothy Newton.
Survivors include her daughter Beverly Brown and her husband Paul of York, SC;
three sons: Michael Schuller and his wife Rosemarie of Moon Twp., Pa.,
Martin Schuller, Jr. and his wife Billie also of Moon Twp.; Paul Schuller and his wife Nancy of Erie;
a granddaughter Elizabeth Vazquez and her husband Jorge of Union City, Pa.
(Ruth's caregiver for three years);
eight grandchildren: Jeff, Dan, Katie, Justine, Autumn, Phillip, Belinda and Paul,
17 great grandchildren
and three great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home
and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street
on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
and are invited to the funeral service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Ron Freebourn officiating. Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 3968 Hershey Rd., Erie PA 16506.
