Rosemary T. Sievert, 88, of Fredonia died peacefully Friday morning (Feb. 19, 2010) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She was born Nov. 11, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the
daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Minihan) Bechmann. She became Edgar Sievert's wife on Jan. 2, 1943 at St. John's United Church of Christ on Central Avenue in Dunkirk. They were married over 50 years. She felt her job was being a loving wife and a loving mother to her two children, Sandra and Bruce. Rosemary was a wonderful grandma to her four grandchildren. She was famous for making her Christmas cookies for the family and took pride in her cooking. She loved her family and our traditional
Sunday gatherings. We would be amiss not to mention how much Rosemary loved watching golf and Phil Mickelson. A member of Laona United Methodist Church, she
also was a lifetime member of the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club in Dunkirk. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Dayton of Fredonia; one son, Bruce (Evie) Sievert of Fredonia; four grandchildren, Melissa (Glen) Wysocki, Peter (Marcie) Sievert, Susan (Dave) Sinclair, and Lindy (Gregg) Stranahan; five great-grandchildren, Cortney Elizabeth Wysocki, Bryce James Wysocki, Morgan Lee Sievert, Blake Norman Sievert, and Jessica Marie Sinclair; two sisters, Mary Katherine (Allen) Makuch of Forestville and Agnes Belding of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar W. Sievert; one brother, Joseph "Bob" Bechmann;
one sister, Frances Camagna; her son-in-law, Penfield Dayton; and a grand-dog, Haley. Memorial services will be held Saturday March 6, 2010 at 12 noon in the Laona United Methodist Church. Pastor Rodney Mileham will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
