Thanks to a very kind cousin, I now have a copy of this book, written by Walter
Mingus Beam in 1958. This traces the genealogy of Nelson
Beam, one of the great-grandsons of
Bartram Beam. Nelson owned a farm in
German Valley, NJ. This book is a treasure for those of us related to the
Beams of northwestern
New Jersey. I would be happy to do look ups if anyone needs help.
Two paragraphs are of particular interest: "In the year 1990 or before, I hope some descendent of
Bartram Beam will again bring "The
German Valley
Beams" up to date. It's nice to know your lineage and we have a 200 year start so lets hope someone along the line will keep us "on the
Beam."
AND: "I want every living descendent of Nelson and Mary Ann
Beam to have a copy regardless of age. The descendents that are unable to contribute are welcome to the book. It would be appreciated if the ones that are able would contribute. My labor has been a pleasure and is donated. I hope some other descendent will do the same in the years to come."
Are there any
Beam descendants who would like to take up this challenge from
Uncle Walter? Can we update the data in this book? If you are interested, have info about an update (maybe it has already been done?), or if you need a lookup please email me at
meezer67@aol.com.
Cheers, Nancy in
FloridaPS My brick wall is my 2ggrandfather, William F. Beam, b. 1814. He owned the farm next door to Nelson and Mary Ann. I don't know how or if William F. was related to Nelson. William's wife was Rachel
Fritts, daughter of Morris
Fritts and
Cornelia Lunger. Please contact me if you have any info on this elusive relative. Thanks!
