Bessie M (BEALE) Shea-daughter of John T Beale & Rebecca (Bowersock) Beale

Bessie was born in Victor, Teller County. According to family history, her mother, Rebecca Beale died shortly after Bessie was born. In the 1900 Census, Bessie is the niece living with her aunt Elizabeth J (Beale) Thomas and her uncle Eleazer B Thomas and their sons Harry & Jospeh in Wilbur Pct., Fremont County. Also in the 1900 Census, Bessie's father JOHN T BEAL is a widower, born in England, his occupation a miner, in Victor, Colorado.

Where did Bessie's mother and father die? Death certificates were not required until 1903 (or 1907?) - so there is no record of Bessie's mother Rebecca's death. I cannot find her in any cemetery in Ouray or Delores or Pueblo or Teller or El Paso County. These are they counties where I have found Bessie's siblings and husband.

Bessie's "missing" father: In 1880 John T Beal is single, a miner in Rico, Ouray County. In 1885 he's in Rico, Delores County [county lines did change]. In 1900 John T Beale is widowed, a gold miner, in Victor, Teller County. I cannot find the correct John Beale in the 1910 Cenus. In 1920, when he was quite old (about 76) John Beale is listed as a widower, born England, inmate at Colorado State Hospital in Pueblo . But I can't find his grave in any Pueblo County cemetery.
There is also a Sarah Beale listed at Colorado State Home in 1920. She might be a sibling or a 2nd wife. I believe she was 2 years younger than John T Beale. The Pueblo Chieftan has an obit for Sarah Beale, died Jan 25, 1932.
