I have a copy of “The Heartland:
Ohio,
Indiana, Illinois”, by Walter Havighurst, copyright 1962, which I would like to get back in the hands of descendants or family members of some of the people he wrote about. One of the sections in the book is about young Ed
Beal, of
Alton, IL, who was a carpenter for the railroad, and who, prior to
President Lincoln’s funeral train arriving in
Springfield, was assigned carpentry work in preparation. Please email me at
margerice@prodigy.net.
