As luck would have it I am currently researching this family.

According to the 1930 census a Walter Beecham (born PA, father England, mother PA) aged 32 resided at 127 Thomas Street Edwardsville, PA with a wife Ruth (born PA, father Wales, mother Wales), aged 33, and children Robert, 8, Walter Jr.,5, and Gordon, 1 - 2.

I believe this Walter to be the son of another Walter Beacham and his wife Anna/Annie. The 1910 census shows this elder Walter, 46, (born England, father England, mother England) married to Anna, 42, (born PA, father Wales, mother PA) with children Frank, 21, Ethel, 18?, Walter, 12, Elsie, 10, George 1 7/12. They were residing at 242 Chestnut St. Larksville, PA. The 1900 census has Walter Beacham, 36, born June 1863, (born England, father England, mother England) married to Annie, 32, born January 1868, (born PA, father Wales, mother PA) with children Frank, 11, Ethel, 8, Walter (born May 1897), 3, Elsie, 3/12. The 1910 census states that Walter Sr. arrived in 1871 and the 1900 census says 1872.

Walter Sr. is likely to be the son of Zebedee, 68, and Mary A., 60, Beacham listed in the 1880 census in Plymouth, PA with children James, 24, Elizabeth, 29, Saraha, 22, William, 19, Walter, 17. The families arrival in the US is recorded in Irish to America Passenger and Immigration Lists Volume 2, 1846-1886. Here is Walter's entry:

Age: 7 Gender: Male
Occupation: Child Nation of Origin: England
Date of Arrival: Sep. 4, 1871
Port of Debarkation: New York City Final Destination: USA
Ship's Name: Atlantic
Ship's Manifest Number: 903470
Port of Embarkation: Liverpool
Purpose for Travel: Staying in the USA Mode of Travel: Steerage

Walter's birthplace is not known but the births of several older siblings can be found in in extracts from the Kingswinford and St. Mary's Chapelry, Staffordshire, England.

Zebedee Beacham is listed as in the 1871 arrival record (54) which does not correlate with the age in the 1880 census (68) but I believe it is just a discrepancy as all other family members ages correlate. I have no further info on Zebedee or Mary Ann but can update you if I find some.

I notice your post is from 2003 but I just joined ancestry and I am trying desperately to figure out information on my Dad's father. He never met his father. The only information my grandmother ever gave us before she died was his name is Walter Beacham from Forty Fort, Edwardsville, PA. My Dad was born in 1947 and apparently my grandmother met Walter Beacham at a dance held in Philadelphia for the soldiers. My grandmother was very tight lipped about the whole situation so I dont have much to go by. I just keep hitting road block after road block so thought I'd reach out to you to see if you ever found more info. Thanks!
