I am looking for any information regarding my ggggrandfather. He was born in either NC or TN in 1823 or 1824. Our family history relates that his mother was married to a family with the last name "Steppe", and the marriage was annulled prior to his birth. There is question as to one of these parties being Cherokee. However, having difficulty with record searching. If anyone knows anything about this line, please let me know.

It looks like we are distant relatives. I am also looking for more information on Abraham Beach. He is my great great great Grandfather. Unfortunately I'm at the same brick wall. Please let me know if you have found additional info since this query.

I am not sure if I am from the same line, but my great-grandmother use to talk of being part Cherokee. Her mother, Emma Janettie Beach, was said to have been the daughter of a Cherokee Indian named Moon. I can't get any farther than this, although I have tried.

My grandfather put together a Beach Family history that told the story of Abraham Beach and the Stepp family. The way my grandfather, Gene Beach, told it was that Abraham's mother was a Beach and the father was named Stepp. The story goes that the Stepp family forbid the marriage. The line continues with Abraham's son Shuford Beach, Shufords's son Sherman and Sherman's son Gene. Gene is now deceased and I did know my great grandfather Sherman. The beginning with Stepp was told to be in Tennessee and Sherman migrated west to Western Arkansas. Most of the family I know and when Sherman passed, are in Westville, Oklahoma just over the Arkansas border.
