Hello Jen
Thank you for reply, sorry it took so long for me to reply because I have been on Holiday. I forgot that I had a company in York to look up the History of the Beacall Surname this is what they said:-
the surname Beacall appears to be of English orgin, derived from one of serveral place names as diverse in their their present day forms as Backwell in somerset ( which was Bacoine in domesday Book) Beal in the west riaing of Yorkshire (Begale in the Domesday Book) or Beckley in Oxfordshire ( which was Beckehie at the tiem of the Norman conquest).
Any info would be of great interest.
Thanks in advice

Hello, Susan -- A relative of mine has done a lot of work on our Beacall forebears, tracing them back through the centuries in Shrewsbury mainly. He's gone back to a William Bewcoll in the 1400s who is listed as doing jury service -- like me a few years back. Later the name became Beacoll. He's given me loads of info about them but at the moment all my papers are in a right mess -- typical of my filing system. But somewhere I seem to remember something about an offshoot family going to Liverpool. I'll try to sort it out.
E-mail me if you want to.

Hi all you beacalls, i remember my Nan said something about the name originating in france as Beaucall, but i have not found any proff of that. The Liverpool/Merseyside branch of the beacalls split up after an arguement between the two brothers one set live in the Prenton area of Birkenhead and the other over the Nocturum, Ford and well all over birkenhead really. i will definately come back to see if you two have any other info :0) Bye

Hello, Philip Have just seen your note. Haven't time to check up on Beacall data right now, but will do so after Christmas. And will consult a relative who knows much more about the Beacalls than I do. One things -- most Beacalls seem to come from Shropshire; they go back there to the 1400s.
