Hi, I'm new to the board after having just discovered an ancestral link to the Elizabeth Frailey / Baugher familys in Hardin County, mid-to-late 1800s.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Francis Mitchell from Saline County. We grew up knowing her father as James A. Mitchell from Hardin County by way of Tennesee then Carrsville. We just recently got a copy of her marriage record to my Great Grandfather Joseph Lee Sullivan. And it said that her mother was Mary E. Baugher -- something we never knew before. This prompted us to query the IGI records wherein we discovered the connection. And now I'm trying to learn.

What I'd like to know is if anybody can provide information regarding what we've learned so that we can find some concrete data. She had a child in 1879 out of wedlock at 12 years old (Mary Francis Mitchell), remained in her mother's home unmarried for the 1880 census, somebody (most likely James Mitchell) carted the baby off to a foster family named "Rushing" in Saline County for the 1880 census, she married the baby's father in 1888, then married Christopher Dale in 1893, and possibly died (in Chicago???) in 1899. Or so it seems. And then Christopher Dale appears to have died in...1935 was it? And I've NO idea what became of the baby's father.

That's my story as I've researched in a nutshell. The only problem is, I have no real people to tie it to other than my Great Grandmother, Mary Francis Mitchell, and her later-adopted father, James A. Mitchell. The Baughers, Fraileys, Hirum Mitchell, and Christopher Dale are totally unknown to me.

So I was hoping that if anybody has any exposure to those folks, any of them, I'd sure appreciate any information on them at all.

By the way, I see that IGI says Thomas W. Baugher was Mary's father. This can NO way be her half-brother, Thomas Washington Baugher, because he was born 5 years before her. It must supposed to be "William Thomas Baugher" who was the father. I'd read somewhere that he was married to Rebecca "Becky" Elizabeth Frailey and had at least a couple of other kids with her.

So I'm TRULY open for info... and I'm pasting the IGI records below in case anybody can clear up any confusion for me.
