Does anyone have information on the ancestors of Frederick Batts, descendant of Henry Batt of England? I will share what I have if anyone is interested.

Kevin,

The Frederick Batts I have is from Surry Co. VA but I assume he could have moved. I have a lot of info on other Batts. If we are talking about the same Frederick (born abt. 1764) then I am a decendant of his half brother William (born 1741). I have been desperately trying to link them back to England but I have hit a wall. Any help would be appreciated. E-mail me directly and we might be able to exchange files.

Hi Robert,
I am looking for any information on SARAH ANN BATTS born 1854 in Petersburg, Virginia. Not much to go on. Her mother was named Elizabeth. She married Alexander Washington Fentress May 20, 1875 in Norfolk, Va.
By any chance do you see her in your records?
Thanks

Anne,

Sorry, the onlt Sarah Batts I have was born in 1813, daughter of William Batts. I noticed that you have postings looking for Bates' also. I don't know if this is of any consequence but my Batts line is not the same as Bates but comes from the Batt line in Salisbury, England.

Good luck!
Robert

My Ancestor was Frederick H. Batts b. 1810 in VA
and d. 1843 in Limestone Co., AL. He m. an Elizabeth
about 1834 and had two children: Phoeba Ann
Catherine Batts and Frederick I. Batts. He
d. three years after Frederick was born. The father
of Frederick H. was, I believe, Benjamin Batts
b. 1780 and d. 1834 in Sussex Co., VA. He m.
Sarah Hicks Rainey the dau. of Daniel Rainey in
1804 VA. Benjamin Batts was the son of John H.
Batts and Mary Warren who was the dau. of Thomas
and Lucy Warren. John Batts was the son of
William Williams Batts and Sarah Thorpe, the
dau. of Thomas and Martha Jennings Thorpe.
I have more Jennings ancestors.
I would love to share my ancestors with anyone.
Clara

Hi. I am also a decendent of William Batts and Sarah Thorpe. Do you know who Williams parents were? I have found the father to be John but also have a source that says Capt. Henry Batts (son of John Batt, born in 1606) was his father. Nothing seems to match up yet. Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Laura

Laura,

Have you had any success on your search for William's father?

I am beating my head against the same wall. From what I can tell, there were two Batts in the colonies in 1667, Thomas and William. Thomas was the one that discovered the eastern continental divide with Robert Fallam in 1671. It looks like he married Mary Rudolph and had 5 children but only one son. His name was also Thomas and was born in 1660 and died in 1691. My records show our ancestor, William, being born in 1691 so it is possible that Thomas is the father of our William.

I have only found one daughter mentioned for Henry Batts.

If you find out anything, please let me know. I will keep you informed as well.
