can anyone Help Me I'm looking for the wife of my ggrandfather william P Batts he was born abt 1850-52 in Kentucky dont know where in Kentucky.His father was born there from what I can find on the 1920 Census the wife also born in Ky.William P was living in Kiowa Pittsburg Co Okla.in 1920 he was 70yrs old. He had William Harrison Batts he was born 1880-02 George A. batts born 1878 Sam Belton born 1875 I know one sister her name was Ida Leona Batts Allen there were outher children but havent found them yet. I am looking for a William P Batts born in Ky not sure about the exact date. He was married to my great great
grandmother. Her name was Matilda Lennie Katherine Roberson in Erath Co.,Texas in 1889. There was one child of this marriage Walter Batts. I have tried to connect him Ida Leona Batts but can't find enough information. If you have anything that can help me and will share I would appreciate.

Not really I am having a hard time trying to figure out
which William Batts is the correct one. I did go to the Duffa Cemetery last summer and found the gravesites of
Prudence W. (Rainwater} Roberson. If you find anything else
please contact me.

William P Batts was married to Matilda Linnie Katherine Roberson, her mother was Prudence W. Rainwater which is suppose to be a full blood Cherokee Indian.
I am tring to decide if this is the same William that was married to Cassabdra Butler which is the mother of Ida Leona Batts

The plot continues to thicken. We have been told that Ida Leona's mother was full blood Indian, but unable to verify the fact, or verify her mother's name except for the name "sis" as mother and "will" as father in my uncle's baby book. Do you have proof that Cassandra is Ida's mother?
I have the copy of W P Batts marriage to Mrs. M. C. Collins, dated April 18, 1889- (is this your Matilda?) do you have a copy? Where is the Duffa cemetery you mentioned? Thanks again! Donna

It is the same M C Collins. She was married 5 times. She had been marriewd to as william R. Collins Aug 12, 1888.
Erath Co, t5exas is just a few miles from Stephenville, Texas. I am glad be are finally putting some of the puzzle
pieces together.
I have wondered If she started spelling Katherine with a C,
that is the only way I see the M C She divoriced William Batts June 9, 1899. There was only one child from this marriage a Walter Leander Gains Batts whom was my grandfather.
