Hello,

My maiden name is Battley and my sister and I are trying to find out more of of our father's family. He was born in 1904 in Lambeth and had a sister Doris Sabina born in 1914 I think he also had a brother. Their father was William Battley. I was a bridesmaid at Sabina's wedding in 1943 I think. We were separated as children due to both our parents dying of TB and would really like to know anything re the Battley family. We have several birth/death/marriage certificates.
I hope this is helpful. I would be interested in what you have gathered so far. Thank you.

Jenny Brooks

My grandmother's maiden name was Battley and she lived all her life in the Battersea/Clapham area. She was born in 1899 and was one of 10 children. Her father was Thomas Battley born in Wandsworth in 1865. His parents originally came from Norfolk. I haven't got any of the names you mention, but would be interested to have any further information you have as I am in touch with others Battleys and we have several relatives who came from the Wandsworth/ Lambeth area.

Hi,

I'm researching the Battley family, originally from Mickfield and Mendlesham in Suffolk back to about 1780 but before then I have no idea where they came from. Some of the Battley's moved to London and I wonder if maybe we have a connection?

My Battleys are all from Norfolk (earliest 1799) and London. I also have a few Scarfe's in my tree also from Norfolk. I have contact with other Battleys from the London area, where abouts in London are your relatives from?

Hi,

Apologies for the delay. My Battleys went to St Pancras I believe but were mainly from Mendlesham in North Suffolk. I'm struggling to go back further than Jonathan Batley born 1772 in Mickfield so if there is a connection I would be very glad to exchange details!

Also have Battleys going from Mendlesham to Buckinghamshire.

Regards
Marie

Sorry Marie, can't really see any connection as my Battleys were mainly from London. Will get back to you if I find any connection in the future.

Regards.
Jan.

Hi, I am trying to find out more about my father's family. His name was Joseph Michael Battley, born Oct 17, 1948. I was born Nov 28, 1967, Julie Michelle Battley in Columbus, Georgia. His father was Wilbur A. Battley and I'm pretty sure Wilbur's father was Joseph A. Battley. All born in Georgia

Thanks for your reply. I know for sure that my Battley's came from England, probably Norfolk or Suffolk. I just want to trace it back as many generations as I can. : )
