Henry Frederick Moffatt Battley was born on the barque the Arachne 14/08/1843 just off the coast of Brazil his birth certificate is signed by captain Pearce.
His parents were Richard Henry Battley and Priscilla Battley (nee Moffatt).
They travelled to Oz in 1840 on the Orleana. Richard was declared insolvent in 1842 and they travelled back to England under the name of Mr & Mrs Moffatt
