I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth A. Bates born 15 Jun 1827 in MA., Married Ebenezer Randall Hathaway 6 Nov 1842, died 25 Jul 1860 in Fairhaven, MA. I have been unsuccessful at finding her birth certificate. I have a theory and would like any assistance, if anyone is able to provide it.
I am considering that Jared Bates and Jamimia Ellis may be Elizabeth's parents, because Elizabeth married in Rochester in 1842 and Jared is the only Bates that had a 10-15 year old daughter in 1840 two years before Elizabeth's wedding. Her marriage certificate doesn't give many details however W. N. Ellis was the Justice of the Peace who performed the marriage.
Also Rochester Vital Records show under Ellis "Jemima and Jared Bates, int. Nov. 24, 1827." which makes the place and time about right.

It fits again.

1860 Fairhaven Census listed her as 31 which would make her date of birth about 1829, this might explain why there is a year or two descrepency from her parents marriage and her birth date which may be in error.

I guess I need to get her death certificate from Fairhaven, MA, hopefully they will have it. I will put that on my to do list.
