Edmond Basye/Elizabeth Taylor

The info out there is very confusing. This is really about Elizabeth, but as she is the wife of Basye, and Taylor is such a common surname, I thought this might be the better. Edmond was married to Eliz. Her birthdate on rootsweb varies from 1645-1666. In addition, her parents are commonly listed as two sets of people:
1. John Taylor and Ann Veazey. I beliece this is actually her brother because their dates seem impossible.
2. John Taylor and Alice Gascoigne. However, according to that scenario, she was born in 1656 and married in 1671. I haven't come across that many 15 year olds marrying, so I am doubtful about this. ANyone have the real info or know the above to be true for certain?

Baize/Basye/Bayes/Bayse/Baze

I am from the line of John Alva Baize from Kentucky. He was supposedly born in Virginia. His father was John Baize (all the above spellings apply) married to Hannah Taylor. His dates were 1695-1789. Verbal tradition states that John and Hannah's siblings had a falling out and separated. John Alva Baize married Nancy Shultz. The father of John, grandfather of John Alva Baize is listed as either being Peter Bayes or Isaac Bayse. Regardless of the spelling for John, these two seem to be primary for being his father. I am looking for proof of the name change so that I could know more exactly the lineage. Could someone help me with the name change loggerhead? Thank you

I am of the line of John Alva Baize of Kentucky. He is supposedly born in Virginia. His father was John Baize (with about 5 different spellings) who married Hannah Taylor. His dates are 1695-1789. I have found information where one lists his father as Peter Bayes and another lists his father as Isaac Bayse. Could you please assist in breaking the name change loggerhead? Thank you. My email is doc_baize@hotmail.com

Not sure if this helps, but there are three listings for George Washington Basye in the "Basye Book". Do you have any information that might help clarify if one of these is the one you are looking for? Also, if you have not already checked, I would suggest searching Genealogy.com on the Basye Forum as well. You can also post your request there.

Here are some of the details in the book:

G. 107. GEORGE WASHINGTON BASYE (Son of William Montgom¬ery Basye F.24), b. Apr. 11, 1851, d. Mar. 9, 1927, m. 1. Leta McAlister, May 29, 1873, d. Aug. 10, 1876; m. 2. Cora Belle Bradbury, Dec. 23, 1877, b. July 25, 1860, d. Feb. 25, 1932. Their children: H.138 [Curtis], H.139 [Cora], H.140 [Guy], H.141 [Owen], H.142 [Bertha].

G. 190. GEORGE WASHINGTON BASYE (Son of Granville Basye F.57), b. Feb. 22, 1875, Never married.

I. 177. GEORGE WASHINGTON BASYE (Son of John W. Basye H.245), b. Feb. 12, 1889.

Looking for a copy of "The Basye Family in the United States" book

I was excited to learn about this book just this past week. Although I was able to order an electronic copy of the book (from Digital-Editions.com), I'm a bit sentimental and would love to have a hard-bound copy as well to pass down.

The contact information in the copy I found at my local historical society references Paul E Basye, but the phone number no longer works. It seems possible that Paul is no longer alive. Does anyone know who is keeping the "torch" on this wonderful project? Is anyone adding to the already extensive research to continue the great work done by Otto?

Any information folks have is greatly appreciated!

Jen (ramgrrl@email.com)
My mother is a Basye. I have quite a bit of research regarding this "branch" of the family tree and am happy to offer it to fellow researchers.

My mother, Betty Basye, is the only child of Clayton Basye and Henrietta Schwichtenberg.
Hello,

According to the Ohio Death index, the spelling of her last name is Bayse. I have reason to believe that Mildred's family has a deep Iroquois background. Can anyone shed any light on this? She married George Haynes, and one of her sons was Floyd Haynes (my grandfather), who died in 1941. Mildred is the daughter of Alonzo who married Mary Pritchard. All of the spellings I have seen on this board are Basye. Does anyone here have a connection with Mildred? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
