ERIC JOSEPH BASSETT, JR., 17, of Houston, Texas, passed away in a tragic auto accident on Sunday, December 2, 2007 and was received eternally into heaven. He was born April 19, 1990 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Eric Joseph Bassett, Sr. and Ana Rodriguez Bassett. Eric grew up in Houston, attending Adam Elementary School and Arnold Middle School. He was a Senior at Cy-Falls High School and would have graduated with honors in May, 2008. Eric was a proud member of the Cy-Falls Golden Eagle Football team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He loved God and loved people. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished guitar player. Eric had the wonderful gift of bringing joy and laughter into the lives of his family and his many friends. He is survived by his father, Eric Joseph Bassett Sr., loving mother, Ana Rodriguez Bassett; sister, Tiffany Bassett and brother, Andrew Bassett. He is also survived by Grandparents, William and Sylvia Bassett, Cesar and Eugenia Rodriguez; Uncles and Aunts William and Laura Bassett, Robert and Melinda Bassett, Cesar and Susie Rodriguez, Gabriela Rodriguez; and Cousins William, Ashley, Kylie and Colleen Bassett, Courtney Twining, Ashley, Brooke and Derek Rodriguez. Pallbearers are Jonathon Alford, Matthew Baldwin, Matthew Beltran, Jason Chovanec, Jonathon Clinkenbeard, Christopher Cooper, Coach Kirk Eaton, Frankie Elayyan, Dane Jeske, Ryan Moss, Tyler Pratt, and Christopher Schoennagel. A Vigil Service will be held Thursday December 6th at 7 pm at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, TX 77065. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday December 7th at 4 pm at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. All are invited to a reception following the Mass in the church community center.
