Hello Lynette,
So nice to hear from you. I think there could possibly be a link in our Basinger line. The person that has helped me so much is STEFANIE BUCK BASINGER. She has so much information on the Basinger family. Her e-mail address is Chldminstr@aol.com If you look on the message board, she has posted several messages. Good Luck and let me know if we are kin. Lea

Your John Paysinger and the other person's Henry Paysinger appear to be the sons of John Paesinger/Peasinger and his wife Magdaline/Magdalene. The older John obtained a grant Rowan County NC in 1757 and on 19 jul 1757 "John Peasinger and wife Magadalin" sold a square parcel on Elisha Creek containing 200 acres to David Jones (Deed Book 2, page 184). The property now lies in Davies County NC and I have a reprint of a map showing the locations of the land grants in that county. John Paesinger's parcel is in the center of the map and was adjacent to one owned by Squire Boone, father of Daniel Boone. David Jones either sold or gave the 200 acre parcel to his son Henry Jones and it was sold to my ancestor Samuel Tate on 20 Jan 1762.

A quick search of Ancestry.com for your Robert got me:

His WWI Draft Registration:
Name: Robert Cleveland Basinger
City: Richmond
County: Wise
State: Virginia
Birth Date: 5 Mar 1884
Race: White
Roll: 1985112
DraftBoard: 4

Fannie Lillian is listed as his wife on that card, and he's working as a helper in the City Gas Works.

Along with the 1910 Census, I see him and Fannie in the 1920, with their family:

Name: Robert Basinger
Home in 1920: Richmond Jefferson Ward, Richmond (Independent City), Virginia
Age: 34 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Birthplace: Virginia
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Fannie
Father's Birth Place: Virginia
Mother's Birth Place: Virginia
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Rent
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 415

Household Members: Name Age
Robert Basinger 34
Fannie Basinger 33
Florence Basinger 12
Rosa Basinger 10
Ireine Basinger 2 11/12
Source Citation: Year: 1920;Census Place: Richmond Jefferson Ward, Richmond (Independent City), Virginia; Roll: T625_1910; Page: 17B; Enumeration District: 139; Image: 415.

Of course, you will want to look at the images yourself, because the index only gives you some of the information.

Hope this helps,

Valorie

Ancestry census indexes are not finding her in the 1930, which would place her with her parents and hopefully, the known sister. :(

I did search the SSDI on Rootsweb, and found:

HELEN CROWE, 24 Sep 1924 - Jun 1972. SSN: 308-20-5218, issued: Indiana

Unfortunately, no last residence or last benefit place were in the record. However, since this could be your Helen, it might be worthwhile to look up this record, place a Postem with your contact info, and order the SSN application from the Social Security Administration.

http://ssdi.rootsweb.com

I also searched the Illinois State Genealogy database without success. I searched for marriage records for Herbert French, all the Crowes, all the Ba(y)singers without finding your Helen Louise.

http://www.ilsos.gov/GenealogyMWeb/globsrch.html

On Ancestry.com, I find this notation in the Texas Birth Records:

Name Birth Date Gender Birth County Father's Name Mother's Name
Mark Frederick White 26 Dec 1951 Male Dallas Benjamin Frederick White Helen Louise Basinger

Michael Alan White 15 Dec 1946 Male Dallas Benjamin Frederick White Helen Louise Basinger

Is this your Helen Louise, and are these her sons? It certainly is not an exact match. There is also a record in the Texas Death records:

Texas Death Index, 1903-2000

Name: Helen Louise Basinger
Death Date: 8 Oct 1929
Death County: Lubbock
Certificate: 50233

Obviously not the same Helen Louise as in the birth records above, but perhaps a relative. I also searched a bit in the 1930 Census of Kentucky, and found the following (none a perfect match, unfortunately):

Name Parent or spouse names Home in 1930 (City,County,State) Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relation

Mary Basinger Thomas,
Elizabeth Hawesville, Hancock, KY abt 1924 Daughter

Victor Basinger James,
Minnie Lewisport, Hancock, KY abt 1924 Son

Minnie Basinger Thomas,
Elizabeth Hawesville, Hancock, KY abt 1925 Daughter

Margaret Basinger James,
Minnie Lewisport, Hancock, KY abt 1925 Daughter

Martha Basinger Thomas,
Elizabeth Hawesville, Hancock, KY abt 1927 Daughter

Katherine Basinger James,
Minnie Lewisport, Hancock, KY abt 1921 Daughter

Thomas Basinger Thomas,
Elizabeth Hawesville, Hancock, KY abt 1929 Son

Ruth Basinger James,
Minnie Lewisport, Hancock, KY abt 1919 Daughter

Nellie Basinger James,
Minnie Lewisport, Hancock, KY abt 1916 Daughter

"Hoke" was such an interesting and unusual first name, I checked both Rootsweb and Ancestry to see what they had for him. This seems to be him in 1900, age 1, with his family:

Name: Hoke A Basinger
Home in 1900: Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina
Age: 1
Estimated birth year: abt 1899
Birthplace: North Carolina
Relationship to head-of-house: Son
Father's name: William A
Mother's name: Sum S
Race: White
Household Members:
Name Age
William A Basinger 41
Sum S Basinger 32
David L Basinger 9
Walter S Basinger 5
Hoke A Basinger 1
Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina; Roll: T623 1216; Page: 10B; Enumeration District: 113.

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Hoke Allen Basinger
City: Not Stated
County: Rowan
State: North Carolina
Birth Date: 8 May 1899
Race: White
Roll: 1765937
DraftBoard: 0

Texas Death Index, 1903-2000
Name: Hoke A. She may have had a sister named Margaret A Basinger (b abt 1827) who later married Ezekial Riley. ... or Margaret Basinger could've been Sarah's sister-in-law if Sarah had a brother that died before 1860?
Any clues to the ancestry of Sarah is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Elizabeth Basinger Santore is my maternal grandmother. Her four surviving daughters (my aunts) all live in the Connellsville and Scottdale area still. And one of my mother's cousins, George Basinger, actually now lives in the house my grandparents lived in from the 1940's to 1980's in Everson.

Elizabeth's living daughters are Virginia (Jean) Kuhns (Connellsville), Betty Oswald (Scottdale), Kay Thieler (Scottdale) and Carol Tishman (Dunbar). Her other daughter (my mother) Geraldine Bednar passed away in 2004. Elizabeth also had a son who died in the 1940's when he was about 12 yrs old. Many of my cousins (her grandchildren) still live in the area. Some of us have moved away (I am in South Florida).

Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry re: George Basinger(1818-1895). Now I need help with parents of George.

Any info out there about parents of Joseph Basinger (1787-1845)? Wife Mariah Elizabeth (1784-1885?). Probably buried at Organ Lutheran Church. One possibility given was John and Elizabeth Basinger but cannot find them in any records. Another is John and Eve Smithers Basinger but can't find a child named Joseph.

Separate issue: Any info on the three Basingers in 1790 census-George, Jacob and John. 1810 census shows three also-John, George and Joseph.

Early Basingers seem to have been a bit clanish and by 1850 you can see this in the census. Mine are almost exclusively the group in Litaker Township (called School District 22,24 in early census records?).

Thanks a bunch

She married a Charles MICIULIS, although they changed the spelling of their name later (this was in the late 1800’s. Eventually his brother and family moved to Illinois, USA and Charles and family to Minnesota USA.
