I now know that our Johanna Frederike Ostmeyer are not the same person. I just got back from visiting my mother-in-law in Hamburg, Germany. We went to the Standesamt Archives for Buxtehude (where she married) and Stade (where she was born) in Schleswig-Holstein. My Johanna was born on 25 July 1876. Her father was indeed a Johann Heinrich Ostmeier, but the mother although a Brinkmann, was not Augusta. My Johanna stayed in Germany and married a Johann Carl Anderstdotterson in Buxtehude in 1900 and she died in 1963 in Germany. So I guess that our families are not the same ones after all.
