his one is for the history buffs.
Several members of the Barry family fought with the Confederate Catholics in 1640/41 and after their defeat their lands in Cork were forfeited. The first names of these individuals turn up again in 19th century records of Barrys who were tenant farmers in the same area. I know it's highly unlikely that I could document a connection but it has left me wondering what happened to the individuals whose lands were confiscated. Did they go elsewhere? Did any of them become tenants on land they formerly owned? Is there any way to determine whether the later Barry families were in any way related to those who lost their lands?
Any suggestions for sources appreciated.
