CHILLICOTHE: Ray J. Barrows, 79, of Chillicothe, died 7:17 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at his residence unexpectedly.

Junior was born November 22, 1933, in Ross County, Ohio to the late Raymond E. and Carlene J. Proehl Barrows.

On June 27, 1953, he married the former Betty F. Grable who died April 30, 1991.

Surviving are his companion for 22 years, Patsy Hertenstein; daughters, Stephanie Castle and Cheryl D. (Dan) Barrows; sons, David L. (Shasta) Barrows and Ernest R. (Shannon) Barrows, all of Chillicothe, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Bowman, Jonathon Campbell, Betty Campbell, David (Bethany) Barrows II, Joshua (Mindy) Barrows, Bret Peterson and Jordan Barrows; great grandchildren, Cayden, Andrew and Bailee; a brother, Miles (Kay) Barrows, of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

He was predeceased by brothers, Jack Barrows and James "Jim" Barrows and a sister, Jean R. Scaggs.
Ray attended the Westside Church of the Nazarene.

He retired from the Mead Corporation and was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731. (United Paperworkers Union, Local 731)

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the National Church Residence Hospice Staff for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jerry Carpenter officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
