I am searching for the descendants of Gale Collier who was the oldest son of Joanna Barron and John B. Collier. Gale was born in Lee County, Virginia in 1823. His entire family moved to Platt County, Missouri in 1837. By 1840 they were living in Pike County, Missouri. In 1850 the family was in Andrew County, Missouri, but Gale, three of his brothers and his cousin Hugh Barron, a son of his mother's brother William Nathaniel Gale Barron were all mining gold in Eldorado County, California.

I have not been able to find Gale since that 1850 California census, and although he was married to Elizabeth Wilyard and had several children by 1850, I cannot locate them either. The wives and children of the brothers who were with him in California have been located in Andrew County Missouri living very close to Gales parents in the 1850 census.

I hope someone knows what happened to this family.

Thank you!

Are you still looking for information on Gale Collier? I would love to chat with you about him. He's my great great grandfather! His daughter Matilda Catherine married my great grandfather George Henry Cullup. Her Washington State death records show Gale Collier as her father, and Elizabeth Willard (mis-spelled?) as her mother.

I'm looking for documentation that Gale was in fact the son of John B. Collier and Joanna Barron. Gale was my 5th great grandfather. His son, Samuel Morgan Collier was married to my grandmother Mary Foster (Cherokee).

Yes I'm still looking for him. It is my understanding that he fought in the civil war. There is a Texas census with Mary Wilyard and the children on it. That is where I have lost him. His child, Samuel Morgan Collier was my grandfather. He married my Cherokee grandmother, Mary Foster
