My husband's father was August Ralph Barilleau married to Dora Portes and his father was August Barilleau married to Katherine or Katie Genoti or Jenoti. They lived in New Orleans and the older one drowned in a flood in either the Lafourche or Terrebonne Parishes.

I am trying to find information on my grand father, Justilian Pierre Barrilleaux, mother and father. I have been told that his father's name is Pierre Barrilleaux and his mother's name is Emma Solar. I am looking on information on my grandfather Justilian Barrilleaux's father and mother. The information I have on Justilian is that he was born on July 18, 1909 in Labadieville, Louisiana. He died in June 13, 1992. He was married to Eunice Prejean. I need information on his parents. All I have is that his father was Pierre Barrilleaux and his mother was Emma Solar. That is all I have. Hello I'm looking for information on my grandfather etc.
My gandfathers name was William Barrieau at birth buthis surname was changed as a child because his mother Caroline Barrieau/Maillet remarried a man with the last name Blackier and from then William took his stepfathers surname.
William's mother's name was Caroline Barrieu/Malliet.
My greatgrandmother's name was Amanda Maillet the mother of Caroline. If anyone has any information on these surnames etc. please reply.

I have extensive information on the Barrilleaux ancestors. Those who descend from Jean Baptiste Barrilleaux,son of Pierre Barillot and grandson of Nicolas Barillot.

All LA, Ms, TX, and surrounding area Barrilleaux are usually descendants of Jean Baptiste and Marie Daigle. Jean Baptiste was exiled to France and was on the La Bergere that docked in New Orleans in 1785. He was accompanied by several of his sisters and their husbands and children.

A good source of Barrilleaux genealogy is Edmond Barrilleaux, who did the major research on the descendants of Nicolas Barillot(1600's) of Acadia. Nicolas was the first Barillot to settle in the Americas. Contact me at

Other good sources are Fr. Heberts books on South Louisiana for LA records and Stephen White's book on Acadians for the 1600 and 1700's. Let me know if you need further info on these books.

Does anyone have any information on my great grand-father Joseph Barrilleaux. Ibelieve his wife's name was Angel Thibedeaux. My grandmother's name was Ida and she was the youngest of many children. Angel died when my grandmother was three years old (approx. 1903) and Ida went to live with friends Cox (but not spelled that way - does anyone know of other spelllings) who I understand had two sugan cane plantations in or around Houma, La. My great grandfather's name was Francois L. Barilleaux born March 31, 1845. My curiosity was aroused because his father was Joseph Barilleaux and married to Adele Theriot. I was just wondering if there was some kinship there.

Can anyone help me with the family of Antoine Barrilleaux married to Antoinette Domingues, about 1915? They had a daughter, Antoinette, and a son, Henry, and perhaps other children, if I recall correctly. Winnie (Mrs. Riley) Theriot, of Lockport, La., is a grand-daughter, with whom I once had contact.
