I appreciate the allegation that Bythenia Bissett (1824-1900) was a daughter of Thomas Barnhart and Margaret Gray. I just have one simple questions. Where's the proof that Thomas had a daughter named Bythenia in the first place and, second, where's the proof that Bythenia Bissett was Thomas' daughter?

The 1850 census does not help since Bythenia was not in Thomas' household.

Apparently Bythenia was a Barnhart as established by the pension records of Andrew J. Bissett. Unfortunately, this is only evidence that his step mother was a Barnhart. It does not prove who her parents were.

I would like to begin a conversation about this matter in the hope of determining the truth of what many adopt as fact.
