Vashti Barney b 1782 in NH married Jonathan Aldrich in Randolph County, IL, date not given. Any information on their offspring would be appreciated. A Vashti Aldrich, aged 12, was living with Mary Ann Compton Carlton in Wabash Co IL in the 1850 census. She could be a grand-daughter.

I do have a copy of the marriage entry in the books at Randolph county, Illinois. Thank you. My husband and I went there and found it but it didn't give us any further information. I would be interested though in anything you have on descendants. I have not been able to piece together the link between Vashti Aldrich, my husband's ancestor and Vashti Barney Aldrich. I presume she must be her grandmother but have nothing to link the two other than the name. My assumption is that her mother was not married as I have no record of an Aldrich son born to Vashti Barney Aldrich. I'm holding my breath!!!

Vashti Aldrich was living with the family of Mary Ann (Compton) Carlton on the 1850 census of Wabash Co., Ill., aged 12. On her marriage certificate her mother is listed as Mary Ann Compton and her father as "Aldrich." Mary Ann Compton Carlton was the daughter of John Compton and Jane (Barney) Compton; Jane (Barney) Compton was the daughter of Capt. William and Jerusha (Jefferson) Barney -- i.e., the sister of Vashti Barney who md. Jonathan Aldrich.
