My cousin and I have been working on a Barney geneology for several years. We are looking for James Barney father to Moses.Believe landed near New York can"t prove yet. But know from cencus he migrated to Penn. then to Ohio. Had a son ,our great great grandfather Moses. He lived and died in southern Ohio. Married a Miller founded Peach Grove.Great Grandfather was one of his sons ,Hiram, who was the father to our grandfather Paul. If any of these names are in your tree please contact. Have more info. I'm not a direct descendant, but am a cousin of sorts. I am the president of the Barney family organization (check us out at http://www.barneyfamily.org), and we do our best to keep track of all the Barneys & Barney descendants. Chances are your William James Barney was a descendant of Jacob Barney Sr., who settled in Massachusetts Bay Colony in the early 1630s. Anyway, here's what I have --- probably all from you and your cousins --- but for whatever it's worth! 1. William James Barney was born Abt 1820 of N.Y. He died 15 Jul 1863. 1860 census of Meigg, Adams Co., Ohio; name: I had this man as "X-38 Barney." Married Adaline Wolfe (maiden name questionable). He died July 15 1863. Had six children that I know of. One son, Moses, born Oct. 10, 1857. Married Harriet Alvenda Miller. Lived Adams Co. Ohio. Moses died 1939 in Ohio.

He is my 2nd grandfather, one of his sons Moses, is my great grandpa, and on Moses Death Certif. it lists William as his name. Wm and Adaline had six children. I have 1860, 70, 80 Census for this family.

William married Adaline Wolfe. Adaline was born 1825 in N.Y. She md. (2) James Rainy. name: I had her name as Eveline; Adaline Wolfe from Linda's post on FamilyHistory.com.

William and Adaline had the following children:

You would not believe how excited I was with you e mail. Yes, the information you sent to me was exactly what I have been searching for for years and years. I have our direct tree information on Paul filled out. We have moved and just getting some of it unpacked and trying to load it in the new program. I promise you I will work at it much harder and get all the information I have to you with in a couple of weeks. Linda usually sends my other cousin what she has found. But hasn't communicated with her lately that I know of. I have just gotten on line this month so this is all so new to me.
