Thanks for the information (and confirmation). I am not related to the Barksdale line myself, I am trying to locate descendants of H. M. Johnston and his wife Laura Barksdale. My great grandfather was a brother to H. M. Johnston; both sons of Thomas Henry Johnston (Lt. Col. 1st Ms Inf. CSA) and his wife Anna Maria Jeter of Coldwater, MS. She being daughter of Dr. Henry Munford Jeter and Evalina Virginia Boon. Henry Munford Johnston was named in honor of his grandfather, but appears to have used the name Harry Mumford Johnston once he moved to California. I have H. M. Johnston's fraternity pin (name engraved on back) from his college days (came from Boon relatives in MS) and would like to get it to a descendant that has an interest in family history. I also have a great deal to share on the Johnston family back to 1720 in Virginia, and many colateral lines. I have death certificate for both H. M. Johnston Sr. and Jr. Sr. died Sep. 30, 1942 in Fresno; Jr. died Feb 18, 1986 also in Fresno, but home was listed in nearby Coarsegold, CA. I found Evalyn Johnston Rose listed in Santa Barbara, CA and have sent letter, no reply so far. I hope my letter finds its way to a descendant somewhere out there. I did not have a name for her husband; your data will help me in that search. Thank You.
