John Levi Barker and Sarah Anne Foden married in 1904 in Goosnargh, Lancashire, England and on 24 December that year emigrated to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on the "Walmer Castle" along with John's brother Edwin Barker. John Barker was a plumber and was said to have done well and he and his wife lived in a large house called Whittingham named after Sarah's birthplace in England. Edwin returned to Manchester on the Llandovey in 1931 but its not known whether he came back to South Africa. Would like to trace any descendants of John and Sarah Barker.
