Looking for information, (specifically info on NC heritage) on my gggrandfather, Jeremiah H. Barker. According to a Winterset, Iowa (Madison County) biography "Barker, J. H., jeweler; born in North Carolina in 1826; when three years of age removed with his parents to Iowa, where he remained until 1854, and then went to Jacksonville, Ill., and lived there one year; came to this county in 1855; has been engaged in the business twenty-eight years, and is at present the second oldest business house in the city; he has held the office of town clerk; he married Miss J(osephine) B. Young, June 29, 1859; she was born in Ohio; has three children: Ellis L. (my ggrandfather), Bertie and Wilma; lost two: Willie H. and Bessie" He is buried in Winterset. His wife is buried in Seattle, WA.
