YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Philomena Putarek, 94, who passed away on Saturday, 22 August 2015.

Philomena was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a daughter of Assad and Rose Nemer Barak.
She had been a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1939 graduate of The Rayen School and during World War II, she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter,” assisting in manufacturing during war time.
Philomena was a homemaker and a caregiver, but also worked in her younger years as a seamstress and as a bookkeeper for Riekert’s Furniture Store.
She has been a member of St. Christine Parish for 55 years
Philomena belonged to the Kirby Club.
Her husband, Joseph Putarek Sr., whom she married on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 25, 1948, died on July 12, 2002, after 53 years of marriage.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Rosemary (Paul) Bobish of Fort Wayne, Ind., Paul Putarek of Poland, Ohio, Kathryn (Terry) Baun of Austintown, Ohio, and Joseph (Marilyn) Putarek Jr. of Poland; nine grandchildren, Phyllis, Damien, Joseph, Paul, Tara, Alise, Jena, Laura, Michael; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Philomena was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Paula Putarek; six brothers, Tony Barak, Mitchell Barak, Joseph Barak, William Barak, Albert Barak and Louis Barak; and three sisters Julia Turillo, Josephine Barkett, and Mary Smith.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, OH.
