I have stepped away from the tree for several years but starting to get back into it again. After a bit of research over the last 2 days I have discovered more about my Balbirnie family. My line starts with Helen Balbirnie married to James Hoy in Mains and Strathmartine in Angus. She died in 1841. I believe she had at least 2 brothers (both of them died in her children's home in Pitempton) George (born about 1781)and Peter (b about 1776). Peter was married to James Hoy's sister, Margaret. George and Peter both say their father's name was Peter and both say they were born in Strathmartine. I have both death records, one says their mother was Agnes Balbirnie. I hope this is of some help.
